As you may know, Senator Dianne Feinstein of California has died. She was 90 years old. She was the longest currently serving member of the Senate. She had planned to retire in 2024. Dianne Feinstein had previously been the first female mayor of San Francisco, which happened automatically with the assassination of mayor George Moscone in 1978. She later was elected mayor in her own right. She was a longtime advocate of LGBTQIA rights and a mentor to younger politicians including London Breed, San Francisco’s current mayor.

I am sorry to learn that Senator Feinstein lost her life while she was in office.

She didn’t want to quit.she had been ill with shingles and there were other concerns, but she was on the job the day before her passing.
