Day 79
Luke 22:1 Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, called Passover.
2 And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people.
3 Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve.
4 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them.
5 And they were glad and agreed to give him money.
6 So he promised and sought the opportunity to betray Him to them in the absence of the multitude.
People with evil intent toward others are glad when someone offers to help them with their schemes.
The chief priests and scribes looked for an opportunity to destroy Jesus. Judas knew they intended to harm Him, and went to them to betray Jesus to them, unknowing that Satan put the evil intention in his heart. They were glad when Judas came to them and offered him money for his betrayal.
Some Christians act with jealous intent toward their fellow Christians and try to find ways to topple them from their esteemed positions. Greed also plays a part in their jealousy. You need to be careful how you act because Satan uses jealousy and greed to do his will. He will do whatever it takes to destroy your relationship with Jesus. Just as he used it when he seduced Judas to do his will to kill Jesus.
When you spend time with Jesus in prayer, Bible study, and worship, Satan cannot find an occasion to destroy your relationship with Jesus.
Jesus told His disciples about Satan’s intention toward them.
John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
Just as Satan entered Judas to destroy Jesus, he will try to do the same with you to destroy your relationship with Him. Don’t make him glad. When you read your Bible, pray, and always worship God; temptation will not find you.
How do you do that?
Ephesians 4:17 This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, 18 having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance in them, because of the blindness of their heart; 19 who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.
20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus; 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and renew the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (NKJV)
When you keep your thoughts on Jesus, Satan cannot come against you to destroy you.
Let’s pray: Father, help me focus my life on You so that Satan cannot destroy my relationship with You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Yesterday I watched a video from Freedom Church on YouTube and the message was all about resisting the devil and the temptations that get thrown our way in life!

Jesus knew that Satan would enter Judas, but I wonder why he didn't act more to prevent this, as presumably he also knew what would happen afterwards too, and Judas would hang himself like that too.
If we are being tempted by the Devil, can we expect Jesus to step in, and help us in this battle, or are we left on our own like Judas was too?
I guess the answer lies in the fact that Judas was tempted by greed too, and he should have kept praying to God, and even asked Jesus, about his intention to betray him, and Jesus, might have helped him more then.
We need to keep in connection to God, and not break this connection, by connecting to Satan, in any way, instead.

@just4him That was a beautifully, touching prayer by Jesus, in John 17.
With Jesus, and his love, in us, we will keep to the right path, and steer clear of the wrong paths, as being set up for us to follow by Satan.
