I Won I Won I Won

Well sort of.... So if you haven't been following the story of my woes with the solar company, I signed documents, they installed solar panels, and then they wanted me to trim my trees before they would turn things on. I trimmed my trees, and they came back with a contract with a lower energy guarantee. There was a lot of miscommunication and lack of communication and so on during this whole time. Anyway, I filed a complaint with their licensing agency. That's when their resolution center contacted me and told me the contract was contingent on my removing a tree. Nobody ever told me about that or I wouldn't have approved the installation. So they came back and offered to figure things out. First they wanted to put some more panels up at no charge. But there is pretty much no more room. Then they called in an arborist to see if additional tree work could be done at their expense. But they ended up deciding that there was really no way to generate enough energy even if they did the tree work. Dead silence for two months and then an email saying we're looking at a resolution. Yesterday, I got a phone call that they were going to discount the price, but they couldn't tell me what the amount was. So today I get a new contract in my email, and I'm like "oh gosh, no phone call just a contract?" And I was afraid to look. But I looked this afternoon, and omg they discounted it $8,000. Signed, downloaded, done. Wow. I was thinking they might maybe go $5000. Eight, wow. Sometimes it pays to stand up for yourself.

I am glad that you had a discount. They made a big mistake, they had to check everything before installing. I hope the solar panels will be at least partially useful.

They are very useful. My electric bill is practically non-existent.

@LadyDuck I may not be here in 25 years either, but they will go with the house

@dawnald - I am glad, we pay so little in electricity, it would take 25 years to cover the cost to install solar panels. We will not even be here in 25 years.

Let me get this straight. You have to pay them to have your roof generate power for their network?

The squeaky wheel is getting fixed . That's a pretty huge discount - a huge surprise! So does this mean you still have to remove the tree?

No, but when I had it trimmed, the guy did such a bad job that I may have to anyway.
