Day 83 Luke 24:36 Now as they said these things, Jesus stood amid them, and said to them, “Peace to you.” 37 They were terrified and supposed they had seen a spirit. 38 He said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have.” 40 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 While they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?” 42 They gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43 And He took it and ate in their presence. 44 Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms concerning Me.” 45 He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures. 46 Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus the Christ needed to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses to these things. 49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” 50 He led them out as far as Bethany and lifted His hands and blessed them. 51 Now it happened, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52 And they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen. Many things in life cause great happiness. When they do, you tell everyone what happened so they can celebrate with you and enjoy your happiness. The disciples had not fully comprehended what took place yet when Jesus stood in their midst and told them why He needed to suffer and die. He told them they were His witnesses. He was sending them to the nations with the power of the Holy Spirit to bring salvation to everyone. They could no longer contain their joy and blessed and praised God for what He came to do for all people. If you received Jesus as your Savior and Lord, you are a byproduct of the commission Jesus gave His disciples before He went back to heaven. They went into the world, preaching, teaching, and baptizing everyone who would believe what Jesus did for them. Then their witness traveled throughout history until someone told you too about God’s wonderful plan of salvation. Now, it’s your turn to tell what Jesus did for you so another generation will believe that Jesus is the Son of God. John 20:30 Truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your plan of salvation through Jesus, Your Son. Give me the boldness to tell everyone what He did for me so that they can believe in Him too. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Copyright © 6 October 2023 by Valerie Routhieaux The image belongs to me.

Those that had been with him for years, found it hard to believe in the resurrection too. Jesus certainly was patient with them, and helped them to better understand his part in God's plan for mankind.
