The power just went out

I have no idea why. It is sunny out so it isn’t like there’s some raging thunderstorm happening. I hear sirens in the distance so I don’t know if there’s been an accident involving a power line.
We rarely lose power here and it is usually for just a few minutes. It has been more than a few minutes. My neighbor called and just told me the power will be out until 8:30. Awesome. At least I have a gas stove so I can still cook dinner.

Power runs on grids. I lived at a place where we lost power for three days because someone crashed into a power pole.

We have a standby generator now that goes on automatically when the power goes out. I told hubs that if anything happens to him, I don't want to be stuck here without heat for 3 days during an ice storm. Have a good weekend. I hope you have power now.

That is good that you have a gas stove so you can cook.
