My First Acupuncture Appointment

Well, guys, I did it! I went to see the acupuncturist to help me with (primarily) pain and inflammation. We talked for about 20 minutes about health history, and what I was wanting to be treated for. She then did cupping (you might have heard athletes talk about using cupping to get rid of inflammation), followed by the needles for acupuncture. There was no pain except briefly, while doing the cupping, and she quickly made an adjustment that eased the pain. I didn’t even feel the needles going in. I go back next week, and I feel pretty optimistic. I don’t feel any different, but it was just one visit, and right now it is after 2pm, and I’m not feeling any back pain. She went over foods most beneficial for inflammation, and which ones made it worse. She also recommended dry brushing, which I had heard about (it helps the lymphatic system), and you do that by yourself at home. In addition, the drink I replaced Coke with after I gave it up; the healthy “energy” drink, is something she drinks too. And once again, I use “energy” drink loosely. It is not full of junk like those you see in stores. So that was how the appointment went. Afterwords, my dad took me to lunch, and I went to the grocery store. What did you do today so far?

Hey who knows? This might be the thing to help get you feeling better and improve your health. It sounds like a good day for you. Today just online really...I broke the handle on my oven door...actually not really broken but the screw comes loose and the handle just dangles. THis morning though...another screw came out..and the grill was loose. It is all back together again at least temporarily. Suprised your dad is running around all ready after his trip.

@snowy22315 I feel your pain about that oven door!! That happened to me once and I screamed- over hot pan of rolls in my hand, the stove door falling apart on me. Not funny. My hubby eventually super glued the screw that held the stove door parts together.

I want an acupuncture treatment too. It has been a while since I had one and it really immensely helped with my back pain. I hope this solves yours.

@flapiz It’s expensive here too. I actually couldn’t afford it; my sweet dad volunteered to pay for it. He can’t pay for it for a long time, but he thinks he can afford six treatments (the first one is the most expensive, then the price drops).

@AmbiePam It is quite pricey here. But maybe one of these days I will have the time and money to treat myself.

This was recommended to me by Ocentiara. I'd want to give it a shot for my back and hand problems. The latter has been bothering me for a long time. I'm glad everything went smoothly for you!

If you could come up with the money, it would be worth a try. Just make sure the person you pick is reputable. Ocean actually found my lady, and Ocean lives two states away from me!

@AmbiePam The problem is, I can’t find one here in the province. Maybe I’ll find one when I go back to the city. And that is awesome!!!

Thank you, Heather. I also feel better knowing I have someone else in my back pocket if this lady doesn’t end up working out.

Not feeling any back pain . . . ohhhhh, that is awesome to hear! I appreciate that they try to get to the root of the problem and offer other lifestyle change suggestions to make your overall health better. That'd be terrific if this works out for the long run - I'm feeling optimistic for you too !

I have had acupuncture done myself. When you need to lie there with the needles, working their magic, whatever you do, do not sneeze. I was asked to lie perfectly still, my work was being done on my back, and one day I sneezed, hard, and that was the only time that a needle from acupunture ever drew blood. The cupping is an odd sensation, but not a bad odd. I hope that this does the trick for you, keep an open mind I think that is key.

Thanks, Lenore. She really seemed knowledgeable, and that made me feel more assured. She started off as a medical masseuse, but wanted to go further into natural ways to heal the body.
