There have been a lot of studies lately that prove that doing things like crossword puzzles or sudoku can cause a longer, healthier mental life and can prevent diseases like Alzheimers. Awareness needs to be spread about these preventative steps. I have tried to tell my parents about this, but neither seem interested. Do you think if more older people knew about these studies that they would take advantage?

I'm sure puzzles would help mentally old people with Alzheimer's disease. My mother does crossword puzzles everyday to help her not forget the words and their meanings. It's best that we expose them to things they should remember.

no it does not help people who have the disease, but it can help people who are not suffering from the disease hold it off for a while. There is no cure, and certainly puzzels can not make it go away, but they are a preventative measure that have been proven to work. I wish your mother well and thank you so much for your response.
