Future country music stars

A post by Amber reminded me of an old memory. My Grannie's neighbor owned a small fish and tackle store down at the edge of the creek. And when their daughter Diane and I were about nine or ten, we'd climb up on the roof of the store and sing Connie Frances songs. (That was a popular country music star at that time.) Sometimes we played Robin Hood and Maid Marian and wrote notes with a chicken feather and ink made from crushed wild berries. I had a very early start in my singing career, lol. The first, but not last, time I sang in front of others was at church when I was about five. An older gentleman in the church played his violin while I sang Jesus Loves Me. Such fond memories.

What a lovely post. And aren't you just the cutest? I hollowed out a turkey wing once and pushed a refill thingy-bob up the centre so I had a sort of quill pen.

That was a cool idea. Did you get to write anything with it?

@1creekgirl I haven’t heard of it, but I wonder if it is on Youtube. I’d bet older or not, your voice is still a pure blessing.

I haven't sung in a year because of the cancer stuff, but I'm practicing a new song "Goodness of God", have you heard it? I'm hoping to sing it next month when Dale is scheduled to preach. This is probably the longest I've ever gone without singing and I really miss it. I know at my age, I won't be able to sing as well eventually. But life changes, doesn't it.

Wonderful memories of old time. I remember when my cousin and I "escaped" in the evening from the first floor window to go to dance with friends. We reached the roof of the garage and from there a ladder to go down in the garden.

She had some beautiful songs, didn't she? So you've always been a singer, too. In the 12th grade, I was chosen to be in the select choir which had 3 or 4 students from each high school on the island. It was really exciting to be chosen, but they scheduled the performance on the same night as my senior prom! So I had to choose between the concert and the prom. Dale and I were dating, so I chose the prom. Always missed being able to go to both.

I hope you and your husband both feel well this weekend. We both had dentist appointments yesterday and did some errands and I think I walked too much...really feeling that injured foot today. But it was nice to get out.

@LindaOHio Bless his heart. Tell him I'm praying for both of you. I can't get the foot surgery scheduled until this next one is over and healed.

Singing was my passion from then on. I was always in choir in school and later wrote songs and had a small band in my late twenties.

I am still waiting to be the rock star I always wanted to be, even though I have songs on Spotify. lol Fun to look back, though. Of course I wanted to be everything. A millionaire businessman. A real estate mogul. A rock star. A writer. An actor. I think at the end of the day I was just sticking a wet finger in the wind.

@1creekgirl Thanks. I appreciate that on all counts. A continuous work in progress, as they say. And yes. Still time. My wife says all the time she thinks my songs would be great on Grey's Anatomy. I just giggle when she says that. lol
