Paper tole cards and a pretty gift box

I’ve written about attending the Christmas Craft Fair held in our village. I wanted to show my support and bought a few small items. Included were these cards and a pretty little Christmas box. I can use all these as gifts to special people There were a number of paper tole card designs. If I were to take up a craft, I think it would be this one. It is an old craft and involves layering cutouts to form a three-dimensional picture. There were some large framed pictures on sale and they were very lovely indeed. Luckily, I don’t have room for more pictures.

Why is it always easier to find/buy new things we want than it is to get rid of them when we have to move/downsize later? When we were moving into this house five years ago, we donated so much stuff to the local thrift stores but we've already accumulated so much again... *sigh* I've stopped going to craft shows and won't walk through home decorations anymore... something always wants to go home with me.

@JudyEv Those people would be very happy to see you. Though I would like to support them, I usually just walk away too.... My home already has too much junk that my children and I created, can't afford to bring in more...

You see the people sitting behind their stalls hoping you'll be the one to buy something and it's really hard to walk on by.

I didn't really know how they were made but apparently you can buy kits with all the bits you need.

It's one craft I wouldn't mind doing. Maybe in a few years when I'm really old.

They are pretty! I didn't know these are called "paper tole cards". My daugther might be interested in making the cards. I will check it out and see if I can find some tutorials online to make some simple ones.

You can buy kits apparently but I'm sure you'll find all the information you need online. The cards are very attractive.

@JudyEv this might be something I'd be interested in too but right now I'm doing okay with crocheting. I don't send as many cards as I used to either but it does look like an interesting hobby.

@Marilynda1225 I'm thinking I might try making crochet bells, snowflakes, angels as Christmas decorations.

I think you can make them up from kits. This is one craft I could probably take on - if I were looking for a new craft of course.

When I was young I did something called tole painting if I remember correctly. We used a piece of wood and painted a flower on top. I don't remember how it was done, but I've always remembered that term. Maybe I'll see if that's online. It is.

@JudyEv my phone gets confused with what I'm trying to say. I meant tole painting. Sometimes I remember to check for typos but mostly I find them later.

@MarshaMusselman Oh, that makes more sense. I mostly find typos later too.

I think someone here had some fence-type posts with flowers painted on the top. I've never heard of time painting.
