First Jimmy Buffett died on September 1. Then my dad passed on Sept 4. These things come in threes and honestly I thought the next to go would be Toby Keith. He has been battling stomach cancer for a couple of years and he looked terrible in the last picture I saw of him. Nope. It was actor Matthew Perry who is best known for playing Chandler Bing on the TV show Friends. I was always a fan of the show but became a super-fan during the COVID lockdown when I was working from the apartment. TBS shows Friends reruns for hours and hours during the day and I would have it on in the background. At this point I've seen every episode at least a dozen times. It has been reported that he drowned yesterday afternoon in his jacuzzi. No foul play is suspected and no illegal drugs were found though there were prescription antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds around. He had a long history of substance abuse but supposedly had been sober since 2021. This is such a shame. He survived a perforated colon a couple of years ago as a result of his opiate use. Doctors apparently told his family that Perry had a 2% chance of survival. . . and he survived. What a tragedy. He was only 54.
