We have a Bombay cat named Alex. He is a rescue cat.
Alex is round and black. His eyes are round and copper colored. His ears are rounded at the top. He will be all black by the time he is two years old; with black hair, skin, whiskers, and even his round feet and paw pads.
Bombays are clingy and affectionate, a “velcro cat.” Alex follows us from one room to another. He loves tunnels and sometimes tunnels through the bed covers, area rug, and his toy tunnel set.
There are two kinds of Bombay cats, the American and the British. We have an American Bombay named after Bombay, a city in India. The habitat of the black panther is near there.
Nikki Horner, a breeder from Louisville, Kentucky created the first Bombay cat in 1965. He attempted to create a breed that looked like a black panther by breeding European Burmese with black domestic short-haired cats.

I had a black cat for years when the kids lived at home. We called him Fluffy. A friend had him and was going to take him to the pound. I heard myself saying, "Wait, I'll take him." It was one of the best decisions I ever made. I hope he is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge.

I'm familiar with the breed. In fact, my husband and I adopted one about 5 months ago. Murray is 7 months old now and is a sweet, funny and playful kitten.
We adore him! Sadly we lost our other beloved bombay kitty a week to the day that we adopted Murray.
Even though Murray does not exactly 'replace' Edgar, he does ease the pain of losing our sweet baby.
Alex sounds adorable. Please give him a big hug from me.

@akalinus That is so kind; thank you very much.
Our new baby is bringing us endless joy and love. In fact, he just jumped on the table as I'm typing to check out what I am doing.

@betlynfrnds If you let him type, he might write a blockbuster novel for you.

If you see the picture in the article, it looks exactly like him. I was doing Bing searches and accidentally found the article about him and wondered where they got his picture. Bombay cats pretty much look alike. I have photos but for whatever reason, I can't seem to post photos here.

@akalinus You should be able to post pictures now. They've fixed the problem. The cat in the picture is so pretty!
