Crazy...

Photo I tried to take of the hearing aid at the back of my ear.

I went to get my hearing aid, and sat in the office while the young man adjusted it and had me practice taking it in and out. He even tried to hook it up to my phone while I was there, but of course this ridiculous phone of mine wouldn't let him. I got on the bus after I left with them in--and both then and on the walk into the apartment complex I could hear every little squeak of a car and peep of a bird. I know I'll get used to it, but right now it's kind of mind-blowing. My fingers on the keys of my keyboard typing this out even sounds sharper, and I can hear the refrigerator running. I guess I'll get used to it. I haven't had a conversation with anyone yest since the young man in the office. That ought to be interesting. I'll likely note how often I don't say "What?" or "Huh?" or "Could you repeat that?"

Maybe just wear one until you get used to "all that noise" or just turning them down to their lowest setting.

@xstitcher I remember when, as a teenager, I had a wax plug removed from my left ear canal... everything was so LOUD.
