End of Day Notes - November 2nd

Hey everyone, how are you all doing? I shared earlier that it was a pretty laid back day up until the time I had to get my son from school. After that, we went to my mom's and spent the evening there. We had some dinner, and spent time with the dogs. I say dogs because my mom is taking care of my grandparent's dog along with her own now. Shortly after dinner, someone that works with my mom brought by some food. Fried chicken from the deli at our local grocery store. That was very nice of her to do though. My cousin did end up coming up because her dad decided to bowl after all. While she was here, we worked on putting together the photos of my grandparents on boards to show at the get together after the service. Hopefully we did a good job with the photos, we tried anyways... Guess there is a little more work to do on finishing up the things for the service, so will have to go back to the mortuary on Saturday. Not sure what else is left, other than maybe finding who we want to do the service. The person we wanted (who did my great aunts, and my great-grandma's services) is going to be out of the country. So the next couple days will be busy again. I also need to do laundry at some point before Wednesday! Hope your plans for the weekend ahead aren't as busy. Sharing a photo of Eli in his halloween costume - he was Captain America.

@MommyOfEli2013 I hope all of that goes smooth. That's when families start to fight

Glad you think he does. True there does.... after the service, then taking care of what will happen with their house and all. My mom gets first choice on that.

Glad you like the picture of him. I hope they will too. I hope it will be not a very cold day since it is a graveside service.

@MommyOfEli2013 Yes, I've been to at least one service where there was s**w on the ground and bitterly cold. I hope the weather is nice.

@LindaOHio I think they'd do it inside if it was that bad. Supposed to only be in the 40's though that day.

What a cute little Captain America, Courtney! That was nice that your mom's friend brought food. That's what we do here in the Midwest, take food to families when someone has lost a family member. It always helps out. I know this is a very hard time for you and your family. Everyone will enjoy the pictures at the service, I'm sure. It sounds like your family is organized and getting things done--it does help to keep busy, but it's still hard.

Glad you like his costume. Yes it was nice of her to do that, just thought that was a normal thing for people to do during times like that, not just a midwest thing, or a certain place thing.

@MommyOfEli2013 I have lived places where I really didn't see it done, but I do know it's done in Illinois/Indiana, anyway. The last time we lost a family member, a friend came over with paper plates and cups, chips and dips and salsa, and a bunch of sodas and bottled waters. She said she didn't have time to cook and wanted to help out (she travels for work, I certainly didn't expect her to cook, or anyone else, for that matter!) Anyway, it was a wonderful gesture, as what she brought to us was used and much appreciated.
