Corporate Greed at Guitar Center.

A new rule: We have to sign in at Guitar Center no more than five minutes before our first lesson and sign out no more than five minutes after our last lesson. I reckon "corporate" wants to save money by not paying its teachers (not much more than Minimum Wage) for minutes that are not "billable."
From a teacher's standpoint it means less prep time, less time discussing music with colleagues, and being exhausted by the end of the day. We already have no time between lessons, meaning that we're saying goodbye to one student as we welcome another. It also puts a strain on lower management, as they have to "enforce" this new rule.
I love my job, but I'm always aware when businesses try to squeeze every penny out of their customers and workers. To quote a Country Song (can't remember by who), "They're makin' it hard on the workin' man."
Have you ever felt "milked dry"? Moo.

On the other hand, they’ll probably charge the student a full hour if their lesson lasts 30 minutes and .0000001 second.

What's sad is that I've experienced "way worse" working in "save the world" environments. Embezzlement of funds. Theft of grant monies. Race and gender discrimination. Abuse of adult and child clients. What's a wannabe do-gooder to do?

Have there been teachers taking advantage or something? I'd take every minute available to me. If they want to be snooty and greedy let them. But then, I am a vengeful, nasty person.

@celticeagle I do my best. I enjoy my work. But it's more tiring than it needs to me. The guy with the pool and Martini had better be nice to me if I meet him.

Yes, definitely. Everyone feels that way at some time or another. We had a lot of things taken away from us when the company I worked for for 15 years was purposely going bankrupt. Yes, I said purposely. We lost our 401K matching, 30% of our salaries and eventually our jobs. I was 62; so you can imagine how stressful THAT was. Have a good rest of your day.

John Conlee, I believe, but could only find this video of someone else singing it. You could record it and do a better job, I bet.

I have felt that way at nearly every job I had before I retired. I still feel that way with the inflation and all. I can see where you feel taken advantage of. When I was taking guitar lessons it wasn't like that--I went to a privately owned small shop. A half hour was a half hour but no one rushed or hurried. It would be nice if it was like that again but money is now the main concern for big businesses.
