Youngsters and the Christms pudding

Making a Christmas pudding is a long drawn process and going by the preferences of youngsters these days I wonder if they will spend their 'precious' time making the Christmas Pudding The Christmas aroma that we feel when those typical Christmas sweets are made in households is becoming rare by the year. Today's youngsters would rather buy those sweets than take the trouble to make them. My question is where is the Christmas aroma that one gets when sweets are made at home? Do you have youngsters around who enjoy making Christmas sweets?
Christmas in our house this year will be utterly pared back, simple and British. Perhaps it’s this dragged-out recession and the stories, from friends and the news, of job losses...

My youngest nephew does not enjoy making Christmas sweets due to health issues.

When someone has health issues I suppose that is a different situation than just not being interested in making sweets at home.

When my kids were little we made all kinds of Christmas goodies. Now I do not make that many anymore.

I remember helping Mum make the Christmas cakes and puddings. They were good days.

Yes. They were good days. Christmas was an event where everyone joined not just making sweets but also cleaning the house and surroundings. My sister and self sang in the choir too.

In my city I find the Christians make their traditional delicacies of their own state. They buy cakes from the market. What do you use in your pudding?

I made it only once but the real pudding has far too many ingredients. That link in my post has all details.

My house still smells good once the Christmas baking starts. I don't make as much as I used to but some traditions I refuse to give up.
