It's Bhut Chaturdashi today in India, a day before Diwali. Bhut in Indian language means ghost. Most Indians think that its a day when we should pray and call our ancestors to spend some time on the earth with their loved ones. So they prepare delicacies that their ancestors loved which they would take, bless them and go back to heaven. However according to the Hindu scriptures, today is a day when we should go to the cremation ground and light earthen lamps/ diyas and pray for those souls who had no one in this world and are therefore struggling to rest in peace or go to heaven and ask God so that dissatisfied souls reach heaven and rest in peace. So let's pray for those orphan departed souls for their peace.
