Update on the Portrait of Taz

It's time for another update about my portrait of Taz, the acrylic painting that I started ages and ages ago. In this update, there is a big change! If you might recall, in the last article I mentioned that I was starting the final phase of the portrait. All of the areas of the painting except for Taz's tongue have been roughed in with their base colors, and now I have started the process of refining the surface and beginning to develop texture. If you notice in comparison to the last photograph of the portrait, it looks as though the color is being smoothed out. It is this process of smoothing out that reflects my new task, which is to start blending the colors so that they look like fur, with a soft texture. Also so that they look cohesive, instead of being painted as separate areas of color. I am also using this opportunity to further refine the shapes and the patterns that appear on Taz in order to adjust them to be more accurate, because of course for a portrait, it is important to have a good likeness.
