Have You Ever Received a Ticket or a Warning?

I've been lucky...I've never been in an accident, received a ticket or even a warning. My husband, as you know, hasn't been as lucky. Don't forget. Non-moving violations count too. Jaywalking, parking in a handicap spot, disorderly conduct...there are many possibilities. How about you? Have you ever received a ticket or warning? Was it a moving violation or a non-moving violation? Did you have to go to court? How much was your ticket? Photo Credit: Pixabay

I have gotten 2 tickets, I think. and recently a warning because I didn't get out of the way of a policeman going to an emergency. I was trying to get out of the way, but I didn't think I safely could...and by the time I could he drove on by. Ended up he was going to my apartment complex, so whoops...he came and talked to me.

I'm glad it was just a warning!

@MommyOfEli2013 I would be upset too, especially since I've never had any dealings with the police in over 50 years.

@LindaOHio I felt worthless enough when that happened, had I got a ticket, I would have probably had a mental breakdown.

I've had a speeding ticket but a long time ago. I can't remember how much it was.

@LindaOHio That's not helpful, is it?

@JudyEv He drives too fast and follows too close; and his driving skills are beginning to be diminished. He forgot one day how to get to a place that he's been to dozens of times. It scared me.

I got a warning when I went through a yellow light. I could have stopped, but as not a soul was around on a Sunday morning (except obviously a police officer), I went through it. That taught me a lesson. Then, last year I caused a car going 5mph to hit me as I was pulling out of a parking lot. That one shocked me as I saw no one when I went to turn. I got a ticket for that. I had never been in a wreck I caused until year.

@LindaOHio He said I got a warning because I cut it too close. But that light was yellow, not red. If he had given me a ticket I would have fought it. That’s how certain I am it was yellow.

If you went through when it was yellow, why did you get a ticket?

I have gotten a warning, a DUI and that's about it. Glad those days are gone. My granddaughter drives too fast. I'm surprised she hasn't gotten a speeding ticket.

I've only gotten a parking ticket . . . I thought I had been watching the time, but they said the meter expired - hmmm. I think I just had to mail it in . . . I can't remember exactly, maybe 50 something.

@LindaOHio With a parking ticket, I didn't even see the meter guy - so good. I would be kinda embarrassed if I were stopped by a cop. Oh yes, one has to literally plan the driving time out here - it's nuts!

I'm glad you only have received one ticket. We've driven on the LA highways. We learned to get off early in the day and miss the rush times.

I have had more speeding tickets than I care to admit, and also a red light ticket, which it was yellow when I entered the intersection but even that is a no-no. That was an expensive ticket at $350.

Wow! $350 is really expensive. I thought if you went through a yellow light it was OK.

@LindaOHio It was the fact that it turned to red that got me the ticket. It was a red light camera intersection.

Yes, to both and more times than I care to remember. I am a bit paranoid now if a cop is following me, especially at night.. I think I have PTSD. Tickets are always expensive.

Actually, yes. I have a disabled person's parking permit. We parked in a handicapped spot and I forgot to put my permit up. My husband didn't realize I'd forgotten to, so we got a ticket. The fine is 250, unless otherwise posted and I got away with only paying 25 bucks and calling it a day because I actually had the permit.

I'm glad they only charged $25. We've forgotten to put ours up a couple of times but never got caught.

I do not drive. My husband only received a ticket (on the highway by a policeman) because he was speeding too much. It happened in Florida and he missed the panel with the speed limit. Never accidents or tickets outside the USA.

@LindaOHio - My husband was not speeding so much, he thought he still was in an area where 65 MpH was allowed, but it was 60 MpH.

I forgot how much it was it was so long ago. When I was still living in NYC and we had to look out for alternate parking so they could clean the streets. I got the flu so I asked a friend of my mom's who drove if he could relocate my car. Later he told me he had and I could get it when I could go out. When I was better I located the car and it had a ticket on it just what I had hoped to avoid,

Oh, my goodness yes. I have not for a little while now but back in the day I had a lot of run ins with the police. Speeding tickets, no seatbelts, reckless driving, B&E, possession, you could say yes, I have had my share of tickets. The upside is I never spent more than a few hours in jail in a small town. Tickets cost me different amounts for different tickets. Possession was when I was a teen, and it was small amounts and back then they would just dump it on the ground and tell you to get out of there. The B&E was also as a teen. I was not part of it, and I have proof that I was at work at the time it happened. It was a lesson that if you hang out with the wrong people you can be blamed along with them when something happens even if you are not with them at the time. Friends broke into another friend's house while the family was on vacation and did not have the approval from the parents, so all send and done they got slaps on the wrist, nothing major.
