Social Security payments will increase by 3.2% for 2024. The Mississippi River is in trouble. Drought has reduced flow to half of normal. This threatens the drinking water of 400,000 New Orleans residents. Also, low water levels are allowing salt water from the Gulf to spoil water supplies. Pollution from agricultural runoff is another problem. The Army Corps of Engineers has been dredging the river to keep the barges moving. 123 days until spring. Breakfast - Protein bar Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Chicken cordon bleu, mixed veggies, mashed potatoes, apple juice and peaches Dessert/Snack - Blueberry muffin and decaf coffee Dinner - Pizza What did you eat yesterday? Always nice to see a little boost in the pocketbook, as they say. For dinner it was a leftover night. Just had the rest of the spinach lasagna and made poor man's garlic bread on the side.

@LindaOHio It usually does. It's funny they report the raise but not the additional cost that offsets what you actually will see. That's government for ya. You can change the rules when you become president.

I do not know yet how much our payments will increase, but surely not 3.2%, as the declared inflation is under 2% here.

@LindaOHio Ours is also much higher, but the "OFFICIAL" inflation declared by the Federal Government is 2%, so no salary or pension will be increased more than the inflation.

Such a shame about the Mississippi River. I have always wanted to see it. Thank heavens for the SS increase. I had fries with a scoop of cottage cheese and a pork patty.

More money, more money, yea. Of course, with everything costing more the past few years that cash won't go very far. I had pizza too!

BBQ chicken & baked potato at Mark’s for lunch, turkey sausage wrap and tomato soup for dinner. I couldn’t believe how low the Mississippi was when I crossed it. It looked like you could walk from the “state line” (technically in the middle of the river) over to the Louisiana side on dry land.

That's pretty scary that the Mississippi River is so low. That raise in SS is welcome but wish it was more. Last night we had meatloaf, baked potatoes and corn

Last thing I ate yesterday was a hoagie sandwich and bottled water. There was also a cookie and chips, but I saved the chips for later and gave the cookie to Eli to share with his mother whenever they want it. Your lunch sounds really good though.
