Interesting Facts About Chocolate

I love chocolate! I am a confirmed chocoholic. It is a food made of roasted and ground cacao seed kernels that are available as a solid, liquid, or paste and are either eaten on its own or used to flavor other foods. Its use dates back to 1750 BC. But, I don't care for most of the chocolates we get at the store. Hershey's doesn't do it for me. I enjoy Lindt and the more expensive brands that actually taste like true chocolate. I like to discuss chocolate so I have listed a few things I find interesting about the stuff: * International Chocolate Day was first celebrated on July 7, 2009. This date because July 7, 1550, was when chocolate was first brought to Europe. * The first chocolate bar was made in 1847. Joseph Fry molded a chocolate paste into a rectangle. But it wasn't sold to the public until 1873. * Hershey's Kit-Kat bar is now coming out with a Frosted Donut flavor. * The Aztecs valued the cacao bean so much that at the peak of their civilization, they used it as currency. * Regularly consuming cocoa can help with your systolic blood pressure, boost good cholesterol, prevent liver damage, and many other things. What is your favorite type of chocolate? Dark, milk, or white? Image is from my collection.

My favorite subject!!! I love dark chocolate, Lindt, Lindor truffles tops the list. I have to write a letter to the company because the last two bags of the dark chocolates were horrible. Excuse me for being so indelicate, but they reminded me of rabbit poop. The chocolates were melted and reformed. There was NO truffle inside, I'm not too sure where it was, but when I got to the supposed truffle inside there wasn't one. I have loved dark chocolate from way back when I was a kid. My Mom thought that I would go for milk chocolate, but I tolerated it when she bought it for me. She finally discovered that I was a true chocoholic and that I would only consume dark chocolate, without anything else in the chocolate. NO coconut, nuts, cookie insides, or peanut butter. Just great quality chocolate. I'll tolerate Hershey's dark chocolate or Dove dark chocolate in a pinch, but it's a last resort. Have a great chocolate weekend, and if I don't get to respond before hand, a great Thanksgiving (too bad they don't do turkeys in dark chocolate.)

Yes, Lindt is divine. I like the milk and white. Not big on dark. I don't like mine with stuff in it either. I sure do not care for peanut butter. I like Reese's but not by itself. For a period of several weeks, my mom would come home from work and try a new chocolate recipe. Fudge or whatever. Have a nice Thanksgiving. Are you invited anywhere or?

@BearArtistLady .......You need to bathe each evening in a tub of extra-strength Aspercreme I think. Do you watch the Dog Show on Thanksgiving? I enjoy watching it. It's usually right after the Macy's Parade on NBC. I will have dinner and watch those shows. I think there might be a Charlie Brown Special on too. Sure hope you have a nice, unpainful holiday.

@celticeagle I get to stay home for Thanksgiving. It's kind of a relief after this past week. Last night was a horrible night, I almost called the ambulance to take me to the hospital for the pain in my left ankle. (It's the one that I broke.) On a scale of 1 to 10 the pain level was a 25. I'm still not sure if the pain finally lessened to the point that I could go back to sleep or I passed out from the pain. All I know is that the pain was horrible!!!! I think it stemmed from my walking the three blocks to the doctor's office on Thursday and then doing some housework on Friday. Tonight I plan to ace wrap the ankle to help keep the pain levels down a LOT! I bought a turkey today, I spoke to a friend of mine who is living on his sister-in-law's property and they both are on a very tight budget. I am splitting the turkey with them so they have a Thanksgiving dinner. I couldn't eat a whole turkey in a month if I ate it for 6 meals a day. I feel much better sharing it with someone who can use the meat. Anyhow I plan to watch the parades and work on teddy bears and cook my turkey and whatever else I decide to have with it, and give thanks for what I have. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and totally enjoy the day with family and friends. May you have lots and lots of blessings. My biggest blessing came to me on Thursday in the form of a new doctor that is from the old school that believes that patients shouldn't have to suffer and that doctors should listen to them before they pass judgement on the patient. I am going to say a very special "Thank you" for my new doctor.

Quite Interesting Facts! I do not have any particular preference but I like a few of the Dark chocolates. Yet I also eat Milk and White chocolates. The problem with dark ones is that they are costlier and at times it makes one feel that healthy things are costlier than the not so healthier ones, but which suit the taste buds. But well, it is perhaps a matter of big debate!

I am not a chocolate lover when it comes to taste, but I do love to make things from it. I have lots of molds here and have made many colourful chocolate pieces to decorate sweet trays that I put out for various holidays. This year I will see if the twins can help me with the bread sticks. I like to dip those into the marshmallow creme, then I will dip it into melted chocolate and then lie them onto the wax paper so the girls can put sprinkles on them.

I didn't know the Aztecs used it as currency. When I eat chocolate, I want it to taste like chocolate. If I want a frosted donut, I'll eat a frosted donut. I eat dark chocolate every day. Milk chocolate gives me a headache. I avoid it.
