Marine recruiters and the rest of the week

Thursday two very nice and informative marine recruiters came to speak to my husband, my stepson and I. My son is starting a delayed entry program where he will exercise and learn things before going to boot camp after he graduates high school.
While they were here my little dog darted out of my room when I went to to get my stepsons birth certificate. In an attempt to keep her in I managed to somehow knock a few spindles loose on the railing in our hallway. I’m not sure why but in an attempt to fi me it my husband took every spindle out. He hammered 4 back in then quit. You can see how it looks in the photo.
Friday I had to go pick up a Christmas wreath that I won. While I was out I hid a geocache in a cemetery that was my first time visiting . For dinner I made a new easy recipe “Egg and Sausage Taquitos”.
My husband had gone hunting and got a deer.
My stepson went to the play with a girl I think he has a thing for. I don’t think he would talk on the phone for hours or sit through a play otherwise. She’s got issues and I’d rather him not hang around with her and her mother is an awful person I don’t want to have to deal with her again.
Saturday my son, my two year old and I went to a thrift store, a record store, got some art supplies at Michael’s, visited two little free libraries and found a really tricky geocache. It was a great day! I thought by the time I got home my husband and stepson would have processed the deer they had gotten the day before but they were hunting all day and will have to do it today. I’m not looking forward to it. It’s always a lot of clean up for me.

I think that needs to be fixed before someone thinking primarily of your tot gets hurt.

@snowy22315 I have a gate on the bottom of the stairs and have been holding her hand if we have to go past that upstairs. It makes me nervous too but I’m not sure when he will fix it. I wouldn’t want to have to do it either it’s a pain in the neck. Last time he flipped out so bad about it coming apart that I had my dad fix it.

@snowy22315 I don’t want to bother my dad to have to do it. My stepson and son don’t work well together. My son won’t work with my stepson unless he has to and I don’t blame him. My stepson is hyper and impatient as heck like his father. He half as$es everything to get it done faster. My son is calm and takes his time and doesn’t want to get yelled at when he does something.

@shaggin Maybe you should do that now too. Maybe your son or stepson could do it as well..especially if cash sweetens the deal..

That is an interesting diary that you opened out for us. Wonder why your husband did not complete what he had started on

@allknowing I used to write it a diary daily for about 15+ years until I started being online and started writing places like live journal, gather then myLot etc.
I think he realized it was a lot more work then he had the energy for and since then just doesn’t want to take the time out of hunting etc to do it. The deer is all cut up and bagged up in the freezer so hopefully this will be a priority for him soon.

@RebeccasFarm I’m his stepmother. I think I’m more nervous about him joining than his father is though.

@RebeccasFarm I’m worried he will get killed in the military. I think learning respect and to clean up after himself etc and all the other things he will learn there will be good. However if he winds up having to go and fight in a war I will worry about his mental and physical state.

Uhm... usually, all of that type of spindles are put in place and the top part of the railing is hammered down at one time. It's hard to do them if you hammer any of them in before setting the rest in place first.
I'm glad you, your son and daughter had a nice day out Saturday.

@shaggin Oh, I see... From the picture, it looks like the spindles fit into holes in the bottom and top of the banister railing. That's how the ones I've seen were made. It would annoy me, too, if they could just fall out without anyone yanking on them.

@DaddyEvil it’s more like cut outs they slide into but a few must be a tad short compared to the others. I’ll have to check that may be the key to getting it back together right.

@shaggin I hope you get it figured out. I'd hate to have the spindles out of a railing if it was in my house.

@Missmwngi the dining rooms is still being remodeled. Lots of light shining in without having curtains up.
