What is this thing on my bed?

It appears to be sleeping. Then it changes position and appears to be sleeping again. It does not catch mice. It does not catch lizards. It does not catch birds. Occasionally it makes a sound, like it is overexerting itself. Have you seen one of these? Is there a way I can get it to serve me somehow? It has been on my bed for hours. What would happen if I tried to lie on my own bed? Please help me.

Oh, you silly. That hasn’t been your bed since Kitty moved in. I used to own a couch, and a chair. Neither are mine anymore. I have to ask for Sadie’s permission. Funny, the other dogs let me pretend I still owned those things, but Sadie doesn’t let me pretend.

Kitty has relented in one way. She sleeps on my computer chair late at night. When I wake up, come over, and and descend my voluminous buttocks toward her, making horrible vocalizations as I do so, she actually wakes up and jumps off of the chair. I am master of my own domain!

You could always try experiments... Wake her up and see what happens.

Kitty thinks you are slow...when you say things like that. You have not yet gotten that your purpose in life is to serve her, to makes sure she is well fed, comfortable and warm at all time..and also amuse her when she is in the mood. to be entertained..silly human..

@TheHorse Perhaps...she may also just be playful, or want to make you aware of her presence.

It's hard to tell for sure but it looks like she might be on the edge of the bed. If she is, you're lucky. My cats like being in the center, which is my spot. And it's hard to get them to move.

@TheHorse That sounds very safe for the mandolin. Is it insured?

@xander6464 It is not insured, but it is in a hard shell case. Plus she never attacks me when I am actually playing it.

My cat also likes to either sleep in her bed or on my bed during the day. She also does not catch mice but she loves flies and bugs. I like to check on her to make sure she is ok so go in when I see she is awake. She does not sleep a lot. She is awake a lot of the time but loves to lie on the bed.

Lay down and then let us know. It might take a couple of weeks before you can. We will wait patiently

That precious kitty is not going to ever, ever ''serve'' you.
You are the slave. Get that straight right now. Kitty's only rule with an iron paw, eat, and sleep. That's what they do.

Well, most vets recommend that you train your cat to NOT be in certain areas by spraying them with a spray bottle of water to teach them. You could try that...maybe. She may sulk for days/weeks but hey...it just all depends on how much you want to be the boss of kitty!
