Kids are home this week

Starting today kids are home for the week. The teacher are on strike tuesday, wednesday, and thursday. Then on Friday it's a PED day. So yeah they have most of the week off. I know my kids aren't complaining. And I can't say I blame them. It gives me a bit of a brake from doing lunches and school drop offs.

I thought that only in Italy we had that kind of strikes. I am sure your kids are not complaining.

@dodo19 - It is annoying when the public transport is on strike. The traffic is bad enough, more cars on the road is very bad.

Teachers in our country (from just a few states) went on strike not too long ago. I hope the strike in your area ends soon. Schools have this week off for Thanksgiving, although some public schools only let off for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Kids in the US will start Thanksgiving holiday on Wednesday or have a half-day on Wednesday and be off Thursday and Friday... Why are the teachers on strike there?

I think it has to do with salary and working conditions. Not 100% sure though.

My husband is home in the morning. I'm home as of 3-3:30. My mother in law may pop in in the afternoon. But they are also old enough that they can stay home for a couple of hours.

That sounds pretty convenient for the teachers. It must be difficult for some parents to manage these extra no-school days.
