We talk all the time about the massive breakdown in customer service these days, and it just seems to get worse day by day. Take Prime Storage where I store my camper. It was Cubesmart until about a month ago. As such they sent out new rental agreements for renters to sign and hand in. Long story short? I went there at around a little past noon on my way to the grocery store to pay my bill and turn in the new agreement. There was a sign on the locked doors, "In a teams meeting." I went and conducted my other business and returned at roughly 230pm. There was someone inside, but where she was sitting she could not see over the computer. Dumb. Facing the doors and can't see over the computers. Anyway, the doors were locked still. I started banging on the glass, but got nowhere. She never budged. I called the local number and got someone in New York. Meanwhile, on the phone, another guy showed up. Before you know it there's 4 of us standing outside with two people banging on the glass loudly and firmly. Nothing. Finally a woman arrived to drive into the inside portion and one of the guys outside the door snuck inside and finally got the woman's attention from the inside, locked door. She turned and yelled at him, "I can't help you," and went about her business leaving four customers locked outside the building during open business hours unable to do anything. Needless to say I called when I got home, got New York again, they said they had several complaints and they were sorry about it, that "this is not normally how we do things at Prime." Okay. Fine. Whatever. But really, people? Even if they were in some sort of teams meeting, you don't close the entire business to do it.

I don't know what it is about customer service these days, but sometimes it's as if "we", the customers, are made to feel like we are the idiots and are imposing on these workers. That woman most likely was aware you guys were out there and probably thinking "Can't you read the dang sign". Right - back in the days, we had team meetings before or after business hours . . . why would anyone shut the doors in the middle of the day for that. That's a good way to lose business.

I honestly believe somewhere along the line the workers unfortunately began to think their paychecks come from their employers. They don't. Ultimately, they come from the customers.

There's a lake waiting for you, and I have some concrete shoes in my garage if you want to borrow them. I'd gladly offer them and don't care if you ever return them.

That is really, really bad. Don't they have competition?

Tons. But right now they win ONLY in that it is impractical to move my camper right now. Since it's the "end of the season," finding an open spot somewhere would be next to impossible.

That is poor business practice and that lady should be fired for not paying attention to the customers, who help pay her each week.

This seems to be the biggest problem we have, and that is that ultimately, I don't think these workers know where the money they receive in their paychecks actually comes from? Without the customer, the business has no reason to exist, and neither does the person working for it.

That is so, so bad. There's no excuse for it. Hope you have a good day and a better Thanksgiving.

It irked me to no end. I am not sure it ever got resolved quite the way I wanted it to. But they definitely got my business end out of it, which, when it comes to me, as I am sure you know, is not a good end to be on with me. lol

Looks like you might have to take your business elsewhere if you possibly can,

It would be a nightmare right now since it's the camper I am storing there and it's that time of year when everyone is storing campers, and getting a spot would be tough. But they have at least 5 months to make it right or I will look for another spot.

That is basically told the last person I talked to on the phone. I don't care what you have going on, you simply CANNOT lock your doors and shut your customers out. She agreed. I mean, you can't make this stuff up anymore.

It was. The entire thing made no sense to me on any level. I'm not done with them yet, either.
