Being a typical Asian non-Japanese salaryman, part of my job is doing some business trips. Our jobs ranged from doing dirty manual labors in the warehouse, to looking clean in corporate meetings. We have another one of those business trips, and the objective was achieved. Looking forward to the company fun run this Friday to break some sweat hehehe.

The working culture. The word "salaryman" is actually a term for Japanese middle class office workers. In Japan, the old samurai doctrine was adopted by corporate leaders into their industry. Hence a boss demanded absolute loyalty to their staffs. A corporate life in Japan is characterized by long working hours (9 hours or more), passionate employees, and strict working environment. Now, our working culture here in Southeast Asia is close to the Japanese model, and yes, I could classify myself as a salaryman. This is due to our closed contacts with Japanese companies operating here. The only difference is we dropped the long working hours, and the overly strict nature, as bosses here tend to abuse the employees unlike in Japan.

@Mamerto32 I see, a very comprehensible explanation you have provided. It sounds nothing wrong except the long hours I can understand.

@RebeccasFarm I love how the Japanese handle their jobs, but the long hours is also a no for me. It's physically and mentally unhealthy, and it leads to drinking problems in some parts of Asia.
