Count De Money Monday

So, Monday, being one of the particular Mondays on which I go to the church office as part of the Counting Team to separate and count the weekend's offerings into their intended accounts, I did so.
To my missus dismay, I joke that on these days, I must be treated as a noble because I assume the title of Count De Money.
Those familiar with Mel Brook's History of the World Part One will recall that Mel's character, Louis XIV, referred to Harvey Korman's character, Count DeMonet, as Count De Money, much to DeMonet's annoyance.
It was a short running gag in the movie but has stuck with me through the years.
As I finished acting in my capacity as Count De Money, I began receiving texts from home.
What were the texts about? You ask.
What do you think?
The first text was a "Can you?" from my oldest son, who flew in the day before.
He needed shampoo as his travel bottle was nearly empty.
The second, third, and fourth texts were from my lovely missus and concerned my intent to purchase a new brining bucket to replace the one that cracked last year.
For years, we have been brining our Thanksgiving turkeys. Doing so preserves the juices and eliminates the need for basting.
I planned to purchase a new one from our local hardware warehouse store. My missus had, as she inevitably does, come up with a list of alternatives to a new bucket.
None of her ideas would have worked. I explained this in my replies.
Before she could come up with yet another idea, I had arrived at the store, selected the appropriate bucket and lid combination, self-checked out, and was on my way home.
When my lovely missus saw the bucket I procured for the brining procedure, she smiled and said, It's perfect.
To which I replied, "Yes, Yes, it is."

Your church must be a massive congregation then to have that many donations to count.

The Count De Money joke is pretty funny. I'm glad you procured a bucket that met with your wife's approval. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and will have a wonderful day today.

It sounds like your Monday was filled with a delightful blend of responsibilities!
And, of course, finding the "perfect" bucket for the Thanksgiving turkey brining operation is a triumph in its own right. Kuddos to you and your missus!

I have no idea why Count De Money would bother your wife.
I hope you've all had a wonderful week.

The comedic brilliance of Mel Brooks was golden and I don't think can ever be repeated. He was his own brand, for sure, and that was an amazingly fun movie. Might have to put it back on the list for a rewatch. As for wifely suggestions...yep...all too familiar with those. She hates it when I usually immediately go to, "That's not going to work."
