Let's envision a world where the concept of money has never seen the light, where the value of things is not measured in coins or banknotes. In this alternative reality, our society could be shaped by different principles, based on sharing, collaboration, and the satisfaction of everyone's needs. Could people rely on a sharing economy system, exchanging goods and services in a spirit of mutual assistance? Instead of being rewarded with money, could individuals find fulfillment in contributing their skills to the community? Without the rush to accumulate wealth, could we see a greater focus on environmental sustainability?

I have always wondered how life would be like if money was not in the picture in the first place?

This sounds like communism without leaders falling out of windows. It could be the utopia some philosophers envisioned.

The situation you describe is the truest form of communism. Not the Marxist/Leninist ideal, but the sort of society envisioned by Jesus. Unfortunately, millions of years of evolution caused us to develop as an animal for which competition is in our DNA.

That would be wonderful. But sadly it won't happen

Money has existed since the beginning of time in some form or another. I think currency was simply a creation to better manage and exchange it. But it has existed since the beginning of time. If you were a caveman and could gather flint, someone would need it to make fire. It was a commodity that you could trade for something. Perhaps another caveman caught two rabbits and only needed one, but needed the flint to cook it. He could trade the rabbit for the flint and one man would have fire and the other man would have food. Wealth has also existed since the beginning of time. If a man could gather more flint or kill more rabbits, they would always have more to trade than someone else. As for what you ULTIMATELY described. That sounds awful to me. It sounds like a communist nightmare where there would be no purpose and everyone would be equally poor. Sort of exactly how communism works now, and doesn't work, nor does it make life better.

Many societies used to just exchange needed goods and services with each other, I think societies like that were the ideal. It's a pity that many people these days starve, or lack healthcare and other essentials because someone put a monetary requirement on them that is often outrageous and motivated by greed. If any other species needs something, they go get it freely, but if we humans can't "afford" something we often go without. Doesn't seem right.
