Grocery Deals

I love finding those great grocery deals ! Today at Sprouts Farmers Market, I hit the jackpot on some meat deals, which was tagged as manager's special. A one pound block of organic lean ground beef - 49 cents ! I grabbed three of them. A three pound pack of ground turkey - $2.99. This is not per pound, this was for the whole pack ! I bought two. I would have gotten more, but our freezer is now completely stuffed . Besides, it would not be fair to hoard the deals all to myself . . . let others share the joy, especially in this economy ! This deal find might even impress someone like @porwest . What grocery deals, or any bargains, have you found lately?

That’s great! My dad was talking about the deal he recently got on steak at Sam’s Club. He was so proud, and I would be too! Your deals are pretty stinking great.

This was a rare deal - and the funny thing is I originally was not going to shop there yesterday! Gotta love those steak deals . . . makes the steaks even tastier - glad your dad got 'em .

Just WOW....ok, you win the award for the bargains of the week. I can't imagine those prices. Our meats are so, so pricey...and if I do see ground beef on sale at all, it's always the lowest grade, that basically cooks down into half grease you have to drain and drain. I am a bit envious! And you are right, even @porwest would be impressed wiith that find!

My eyes popped out - I couldn't believe those prices either. It's definitely not typical of this store . . . the meats are good but on the pricey side normally. Right - meats have gone way up - I wait for the sales and base my menu on what I can get. Hee hee - let's see Jim beat that !

@MarieCoyle Well I wish I could share! If we lived closer, you are the kind of friend I would call up from the store to say hey, want me to pick you up this deal ? So many of my friends (even sister) just do not cook . . . I don't get how anyone can afford eating out all the time. Well, just more deals for us then .

@much2say My cousin called to see how we were and started talking about meat prices being so high. I had just read your post and told her about it. Like me, she is jealous!! Enjoy every bite, sweetie!

Boy, that really was a deal especially the beef. Since I do most of my shopping online these days I really don't see many deals.

Yah, that beef price was crazy . . . I don't know what I'll do with it yet - but heck it's in the freezer now til I figure it out. But there are many great online deals, aren't there?

Not like those prices though. I know there are a lot of clearance sales going on but I don't shop for clothes or shoes very often.

@rebelann I'm not really impressed with many of the clearance sales anywhere for non-food stuff. There was a time I'd dig for those kinds of clearances too, but it's not "great" like it used to be. Every store/company seems to be hurting in this economy . . . I guess they need to make every penny they can get!

Do you order your groceries online? That's something I have not ventured into yet. People tell me there are often better deals online.

I assume there is an over abundance of turkey leftover from Thanksgiving (which is close to the end of November) - maybe that is why there is a sale everywhere on ground turkey. These prices were crazy low - but maybe they needed to get rid of this stock very quickly!

@much2say That must have been the case ! Anyway, the ground turkey has the same flavor as it did before Thanksgiving .

A meat bargain like that is super rare . . . too bad it wasn't for something like steaks . That kind of manager's special, you have to grab them then - might not be there the next day/time.

@much2say When we house-sit now, we always politely remind hosts that we'll need a small amount of fridge and freezer room. A few times there has been absolutely no room for our bits and pieces.

Good for you!! I love grocery deals. I got an avocado for .59. A box of chai tea for 1.99 and yogurt for 30 percent off. Grapes were on special and I got some but I don't remember the price. Steel cut oats were about 3.40 a cannister. I haven't had them for a long time, and they are supposed to be very healthy. Nothing I got there was overpriced, but no real super bargains. Bananas were cheap but I had altready got some..Oh the frozen corn was .66. and broccoli .88. This was at Lidl.

Oh I wish there was a LIdl here - I only hear about it through myLot folks. Aldi is still a relatively new store out here - for years I had only heard about that store too. You got some good deals too - gotta grab 'em when we see 'em! Yah, steel cut oats are supposed to be healthy . . . feels more "filling" in your tummy too.

Wow, those are some amazing deals. Good for you. I haven't found any good deals like that, but the closest Sprouts to us is 50 minutes away so I don't get there often.
