Exploring Pizza

Who doesn't like pizza? I mean, really. Who doesn't? It makes me wonder about where you get your favorite pizza from and what toppings you like? Granted, there are a ton of chain options like Pizza Hut, Domino's, Papa John's and others. There are local chains like the one we like here called Pizza World. Back "home," when we lived in Milwaukee our go-to was a place called Tarantino's and is still one of my favorite places even though we can't get their pizzas anymore. Marco's Pizza actually isn't a bad pizza either. Anymore these days, when it comes to ordering pizza, we tend to side with Pizza World and I'd pretty much call it our go-to place, usually preferring the Apondanza which has 12 toppings on it. Where do you get your pizza? Why do you like them? And what are your choice toppings?

I cross the border and go to eat the pizza in a small Italian pizzeria where they have a good wood fired pizza oven. What is really important for me is the dough, the crust around (called "cornicione" in Italian), I like a very simple topping, tomato sauce (NOT paste), real water buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil leaves, sweet black olives.

Must be nice that Italy is just a hop, skip and a jump for you.

@porwest We often walk to the border, walking the pathways through the woods it's no more than a two miles walk. The pizzeria is a few steps after we cross the Swiss and Italian border.

@LadyDuck That would be neat. No border patrol? Aren't you like an illegal alien or something? lol. I guess there it's like walking from state to state here.

We get our pizza from Pizza Hut. Compared to the local restaurants, their pizza costs about half as much as the locals. I vary on my toppings. I like meatball, bacon, black olives, tomatoes and mushrooms usually. Have a great weekend.

For whatever reason, Pizza Hut is just never on my radar and there's one very close to where I live. I remember eating it when I was a kid. But not so much as an adult. Maybe one of these days I will give it another go.

I enjoy pizza and just go wherever "the gang" is going. I like EVERYTHING on my pizza. I actually really liked good ol' Pizza Hut when I lived in Iowa.

I like Pizza Ranch because they have more than pizza. They have a nice buffet. As for toppings, as long as it doesn't have chicken or peperoni, I'm good with it. Chicken because I'm allergic to it and peperoni because I don't like it.

I never had their pizza, but I did have their fried chicken one night when I was traveling for work and was in a hotel. I didn't like their chicken at all.

@just4him Well, I never had their pizza. Just their fried chicken. I would imagine since they are known for pizza, it's probably better than their chicken. But I won't be able to try it for a while unless I am in Wisconsin, and I know they tend to be in the Eau Claire, Green Bay areas mostly. Now that I am retired if I am in Wisconsin, I am usually in the Milwaukee metro area since we still have ties there. I will be in Waukesha next month.

I do know that many American pizza companies set up shop in the Philippines. Are there any local fare or just American ones?

I go to a local pizza place but I seldom get there. they do have good pizza. I am making three personal pan pizzas tomorrow with my peer. I am making them with just cheese. I am making them a for Friday since I can'y eat meat that day. i love pizza but only put extra cheese on it

@LovesEverybody I am a huge fan of supreme pizzas. The more toppings the better.

@porwest I did all three pizzas all by myself except for putting them in and out of the oven. the only reason I didn't add pepperoni was because they are lunch and dinner for Friday which I fast and don't eat meat because it is Lent. The rest of the year I add pepperoni to my pizza if I make it. if we get it out I have it with extra cheese only because sometimes the pepperoni is too spicy and I get heartburn

Wow, that sounds amazing. We get Little Caesar's often but our favorite place, which is more than twice as expensive is from a regional chain called Gambino's. We have only been to the one in Marion, Ks. Hubby says their crust is the best. We often will go with the Polynesian, which has pork and bacon and tomatoes chopped finely and pineapple and olives.

I used to like Little Caesar's. It was good when they had the two pizza deals. Something changed, not sure what, and I just have a harder time getting it down. If Papa Vitos delivered here, I'd probably order more from them.

We have S&R pizza around here which is the tastiest pizza for me. But sometimes, I still crave Pizza Hut.

I know that usually where there is a local fare, the chains just don't seem to have as much appeal. But it certainly depends.

We buy Pizza from Dominos and Papa John's when buying out. When we buy them frozen at the grocery store, we buy Dijornos.

Digiorno is pretty good. Incidentally, I used to make them. Back in the day I worked for Kraft Pizza Company, and we made Digiorno, Jack's and Tombstone and also made the crusts for California Pizza Kitchen which were shipped out to another facility. Eventually the pizza company was sold to Nestlé, and I think they still own them. But I am not sure. At the time we were a part of Phillip Morris who also owned Miller Brewing and Oscar Mayer.

My fave is the personal pan pizza supreme from Pizza Hut. We don't have any local pizza places, well, one, but their subs are the best.

For whatever reason I just never really got into Pizza Hut, but certainly a TON of people like it. We've got a place around here called Papa Vito's which is actually quite good, but they don't deliver, and I almost always have pizza delivered so they don't get my business.

We also have Pizza Hut and Domino's here. There are also some local ones which are quite good. I usually order from Pizza Hut. I like Pepperoni Pizza the most.
