I had to buy a small amount of groceries.

I thought that I would not have to buy anything until next year but I was wrong. After Alejandra´s birthday party, I ran out of bread. And thinking about how to use the veggies I have before I go to Tania´s for Christmas, I remembered about the escalivada I so like. So I asked for an eggplant as I have onions, red pepper and hot pepper to bake with it. I think that I´ll do that tomorrow if they bring me the eggplant on time. I forgot to ask for some cookies I want to have around. But I did remember to buy a fruit cake to give to Anita as a Christmas present. My shopping list always starts with a coupple of items and very soon it starts to grow. This time, I just wanted bread and matches. But it ended being a lot longer.

Always something to add. I know how that is. Hope the eggplant gets there on time.

@celticeagle The eggplant as the main part of the escalivada was a success.

Now that we walk to our supermarket we have to remember not to buy so much that it's heavy to carry home. We always buy more than is on our list. And invariably I have to start a new list the minute I get home.

It has always happened to me. The was a time when we had big economic problems and it helped us a lot to stay away from the supermarket and eat what I had hoarded.

I get my groceries monthly as in India things get spoiled if kept for too long. Wishing you a happy Christmas.

I am saving the fruitcake to give to Anita as a CHristmas present. It smells so good that it will take a lot of will power to stay away from in until next Wednesday.

I always do that too. Now, it's my husband who is in charge of grocery shopping. He usually just bought what's in his list, though sometimes I wish he brings back something extra from the list.

I do that all the time - especially if I find very good deals that I cannot pass up. But food is something we can always use up, right?

We can always use it. But a few months ago I was shocked when I discovered that I could not buy ice cream because I did not have space in my freezer for it.

We go to the store for two items only and than end up with two bags full of stuff.

It's very rare that I only get a couple of items at a store. It would be for milk or bread if we are out or close to being before the next shopping trip.

It happens with me all the time. I want to keep it low on budget, but it always overshoots. There is always something to add.

@marguicha Yes, especially when we go to physical stores. Our eyes catch so many tempting things on the aisle. I feel that online grocery shopping is better in that regard.
