These are a few of my favorite things...

Well, it's just one of my favorite Christmas ornaments. I don't think I put a date on it, but we've had it many years.
My grannie named this one Jimmy Carter because it's peanut Santa.
I sure do miss her. She's been gone 33 years and it really doesn't seem that long.
She was so funny, kept everyone laughing.
And she loved to sing in church...she would stand up where she was sitting in the pew, open a hymn book, and sing without any music. I'm sure that's where I got my love of singing.
She and her family were never wealthy, although I'm sure they had more than some others. She and granddaddy raised seven children, including my mother. Granddaddy was as quiet as Grannie was talkative. I can still hear him say, "Mur..." Her name was Mary.
I think I'm more like her than like my mother. She was a lot like Granddaddy's side, darker complected and quiet.
Anyway, I always smile and remember Grannie when I put Jimmy Carter on the Christmas tree.

Jimmy Carter certainly is cute and a nice remembrance of your grannie.
I always loved spending time with my grandparents and even though they've been gone for many years I miss them. I'm grateful for all the wonderful memories I have of them.'

Our tree has a few glass balls that were bought, but everything else was either a gift or made by the kids and grands.

@1creekgirl That's the way our tree was when we were kids. Not sure why we don't have a lot of "unique" ornaments these days, but I guess it is what it is.

My father said Jimmy Carter should have stuck to peanut farming, guess it was his way of saying he was no fan of the Carter Presidency. Anyway, love the ornament.

@1creekgirl - I do, we were both happy when my parents and my brother were away for a couple of days and we had the house for us alone.
