Hello Mylotters! Woke up early today as I have my steroid injections for my carpal tunnel of both hands. To be honest, as I sat here in the bus to the hospital, my heart is pumping as I am very nervous. I really don't mind sticking injections to people but I do hate receiving them. It is my first time to get steroid injections too so I am very anxious.

Why would you need such injections? I hate injections. Whoever it was that invented injections would be sued in Indian courts by me because the cases never end and we would never come to any conclusions forever. Sigh...it had to be a foreigner inventing it...sigh. Whatever...hopefully, all goes well with you. Hugs..do let us know how you are doing thereafter...

I need it for the regular pain I am experiencing on my hands which is most likely work related. I wish I could avoid it but the pain can be so agonizing I feel like this is the lesser evil.

@flapiz Aw...I am so sorry for you. Try homeopathy...they have good stuff for such things.

Are you back in the UK? Hope your trip was good! I cannot stand injections, I think the person who had the idea of sticking pieces of metal into people should be prosecuted as a torturer of note. Think of something pleasant like warm sunshine and look away while it is happening. I hope they work for you. Can a physiotherapist not do anything for you rather?

@TraveOnWorld Have you had carpal tunnel before? I am going to be on tuna diet anyway as I got lots of canned goods from the Philippines.

@flapiz Holidays suffer from the incurable condition of being too short, Glad you really enjoyed it. If it is keyboard and mouse operations that caused it or aggravates it, see if you can try speaking software and a raised keyboard. And Vitamin B6 and omega6 also helps from what I remember. Think of the nice Tuna sandwhich you are going to have for lunch

@flapiz Yes, luckily only in the right wrist from overuse of a computer mouse at one time. I luckily caught it in time and could use natural remedies to improve it, but it has never healed properly and I now never overwork on a computer. I've had to learn my own limitations.

he anticipation can sometimes be the most anxiety-inducing part. Wishing you a smooth and comfortable experience with the steroid injections. Remember to treat yourself to something nice afterward—you deserve it!

I treated myself to a christmas party dress. But was debilitated for the next 48hrs. The agony makes me scared of the next injection.

@wiLLmaH For next time I will ask for an annual leave so I do not cause staffing problems. Happy to share the pain is gone and is replaced by pins and needles.

It was painful but a lot less terrible than I thought. They want to do it one at a time.

@flapiz I think it's a good idea to have only one done at a time.

It can be nerve-racking if you've never had injections before. But if they work, then it will be worth it in the long run. I know that carpal tunnel is not a pleasant thing to deal with.

So far I am feeling that it is working as I am getting better at cannulation as I can now feel the veins instead of pins and needles.

My sister and late mother both had surgery for their carpal tunnel syndrome. The problems completely went away. Do you wear the braces for carpal tunnel to help? Let us know how the injections go. I really hope it helps you.

I wear splints when I sleep. The nerve doctor suggested surgery but I think they wanted to try the cheaper option first.

Unfortunately the evening and the next day I couldn't move my left hand due to pain so I had to miss a day of work. The pain is easing off slowly and I could hopefully start healing soon. I am dreading the next injection which is for my right hand.

The injection itself was bearable but the pain that follow the next 48 hours wasn't. I had to call in sick for work.

I hope so too. I had to have a sick day yesterday as I couldn't move my left hand. It seems inflammed. Been putting ibuprofen and cold compress on it. It moves with less pain now so hopefully this is recovery.

I'm sorry you're suffering because of your work, that makes it hard to avoid the cause. I hope the injections help but in the long-term it looks as though you will need to find another solution or a new area of work!
