I'm trying hard to be a productive writer today. Yes, I'm forcing myself to sit down and work through my writing. I know it can be difficult some days but even if I can just spend a few minutes putting something down even if the transition is crud it's better than it sitting there for days with nothing. Honestly, it's not anything the scenes are playing out in my head which is great. It would take up several pages to write out but clearly, my brain to my hands don't want to work together right now to articulate what is going on. Boo to the both of them not wanting to work together.

It happens. Perhaps, if not the same time when you mostly write, like most often in the morning, and just this time or day, your hand and brain are not in synch, perhaps, later in the day or even after dinner. Eventually, you will be writing again.

@ShyBear88 Oh yeah, that infamous Writer's block :-) I could just imagine when your three kids are yelling at you for something and your mind (might be) raising with thoughts of what to write next. I'm happy that you finished the chapter you were working on, and now thinking of how to start the next chapter. Happy Writing! It's almost the weekend, well 13 hours more for me here.

@baguiojade Lol nah when they are yelling I'm usually typing not thinking. I can do both just don't ask me to read and listen to you talk at the same time. I'll end up blocking out sound. It happens to my husband all of the time. He'll be asking me something here I am sitting with my phone reading a book. I'd be like two minutes later looking at him going did you say something? You know if you're going to talk to me while reading and it's not someone yelling Mom I don't hear it. So usually he ends up tapping me first or saying something that would pull me out of reading. This weekend is busy for me. Sadly I won't be writing tomorrow we have Christmas dinner with some family members and that ends up being a day thing so I don't plan on working on any book stuff that isn't reading. I'm like 4 books away from hitting my 100 books read in 2023. Also, I don't have deadlines since I'm Independ author so yay for my own timeline. I already have book one for June done just need to get it finished editing and we are 3 chapters away from that being completed and edited.

That happens to anyone. Wait for your right mood to start writing and try to get inspiration from what you've read in the past or experience in the past to get back to the right mood in writing.

that only works in a true writer's block. I'm not having a writer's block. I know what it is that is going to happen it's finding the way to write it out that's the difference. Going back over what I have wouldn't change how I want to say what I want to say. I need to find what words first. I did since I've finished the chapter and now I'm thinking of the best way to start chapter 5 which is in the guy's POV.

@cacay1 not really. I was already relaxed. Relaxing only helps when I'm actually have a block. I don't have a block. Playing it out a couple of 100 times so I know what is going to happen again. Just finding the right word flow. He is coming out the apartment building after being yelled by a tall blond women to find a not on his bike.

I used to think I wanted to write, and when I was much younger, I tried. Later I realized I am a writer, but not of books or articles lie I had planned. I then took to writing blogs, found this site years ago and wrote some here. But I ultimately found that I don't like writing in the way I used to. And writer's block is a big part of that. At the same time, I was also painting and doing photography. After I got married and had my kids, I didn't paint much at all, but the photography continued, although not seriously. I was just too busy. I took tons of pictures of the kids. I even tried writing children's stories when the kids were little, trying to use them as subjects, or to write things they might like reading. But I just found at that time that I did not enjoy it as much anymore. And I always felt rushed to finish whatever I was writing. And writer's block was always present. Now that I am not raising children, and not married anymore, I paint and do other art. I live in a very small apartment with very limited space. Art takes space for all those supplies needed. I find myself constantly trying to figure out ways of reorganizing so I can paint more. Painting is therapeutic for me as well as fun. I just feel better when I am doing art, but especially painting. But just like writer's block, I can find myself blocked with the art. My best thing to do to get through it is to just do something. Anything. Good or not. Get something started. Once I do, I start feeling better and what I did often leads me to doing even more. It's the getting started that is hard. The thing I find good though with the art as opposed to writing is that I can paint over my mistakes, or former paintings I don't like. With writing, I just end up throwing bad writing and mistakes away. I am still addicted to paper though. That comes from the writing. Now I am a paper hoarder so far under control. But the paper ends up in the art. I do hope you not let yourself worry too much about the not writing. Just do what you can when you can and push through the block. I find in art, when I don't do something often enough, I can "forget' how to do it until I just force myself to do it. Not force really because I love it. I am learning that I have to do a little of each type of art I love on a regular basis to make sure I don't "forget." I am not sure how that translates into writing. I can understand what you are saying about what is going on in your brain and not being able to get the hands to cooperate in writing it all. I totally understand. I still get ideas of things I could write. I have always had trouble getting those ideas onto paper. Especially dialogue. Keep trying. Sorry I wrote so much.

Don't worry about writing too much it's more than okay. I can speed-read though it. I"'m not worried about my writing. I don't have an official timeline and I don't need to rush anything. It's just irritating when the words are just at my finger types yet the words don't want to be put together. Don't worry it came together after a bit. It usually does. Seeing as I've started another chapter. I'm just figuring out how to start it since it's from a different point of view. Dule points of view can sometimes be ssupereasy or hard depending on what is going on. I have a somewhat outline of what is going on in the overall story it's just getting it all together. This is book 2 out of the 5 I'm working on.
