December Buffett Buffet: Nautical Wheelers

Happy Friday! I’m stuffing my face before my abdominal MRI this afternoon. I’m also giving you another song from my Jimmy Buffett playlist. Another one of those “lost the coin toss” songs that could easily be in the top ten. Here’s today’s selection. Nautical Wheelers Linda? NO. Steel guitar again. (He did eventually trade the steel guitar for steel drums. ) Buffett’s second major label/fourth overall album was called Living and Dying in 3/4 Time. And waddaya know, here’s a song with that line in it! Side two of A1A is probably my favorite five-in-a-row grouping of Buffett songs on any album. Dang, that’s a great side of an album. It starts with “A Pirate Looks At 40” and ends with “Tin Cup Chalice,” and there’s nothing but greatness between those two gems. I realize I just spoke Klingon to most of you, talking about “album sides.” Yes, you used to have to buy an album and listen to the whole thing, not pick and choose songs off of Spotify. That’s one reason we old farts talk about how great our music was: they had to fill an album with material, not just record one song. Enough of that. Enjoy this song, and enjoy living in 3/4 time.
