Back from mini vacation...walk in the morning mist.

Good afternoon from this side of the planet. . It's another gloomy cloudy day here with no signs of rain or sun. We came back around noon from a mini vacation. And after lunch and setting up the house a bit, I am here to stretch my feet and enjoy a bit of online world. As you know my elder daughter is here for her semester break and she would be going back on Christmas morning as her new semester begins the next day. Younger daughter has no long holiday as she is 12th Std and has to write her board exams in March. She would be going to college in the coming academic year starting June. She has her exams from tomorrow till Friday. And then a long weekend of Saturday, Sunday and Monday. She doesn't have a long Christmas break this time. My Christmas break began on Saturday and I would be back to work on 3rd January. Somehow, our holidays were not coinciding to go for a long vacation as a family. Elder one wants to meet her school friends in town on this weekend before leaving. So, we could not plan for anything coming weekend. So, a short weekend gateway was all we could do. We stayed in a resort few hours drive from our house on the outskirts of the city. It was surrounded by grape yards and beautiful mountains. We went there on Friday evening and we returned today on Sunday after an early morning breakfast. We did enjoy our weekend amidst the nature. We kept it relaxed with some early morning walk on the hills, enjoying the sunrise moment ( the sun was not visible due to clouds, but we could see the beautiful sky with orange hue) and then enjoying our swimming and spa in the resort. And today we are back. Glad that we could at least get this short weekend gateway. My younger one can take rest and revise for her exams tomorrow. She took two books to read a bit in the resort. Now it would be business as usual. My elder daughter is here for another week and we need to get a few things done this week like her annual eye checkup and some shopping. That's the picture of one of the morning walks towards the top of the hill.. There was a restaurant on the top of the hill and we would walk, enjoy the trekking around the hills before reaching the hill top to enjoy the delicious breakfast. The trip back downhill was equally enjoyable. Hope you all are doing good. Stay healthy and happy.

That was told in a crisp and wonderful way. Such short getaways are always memorable, even though we might feel rushed. We had a good trip to Nainital in March this year. Nothing planned yet for the next year. My aim is to accumulate good enough amount to go on trip as well as some shopping also. You have some busy days ahead but hopefully some joyful days of the Christmas break. Here, we can avail of a few year end leaves to accommodate our "to be lapsed" CLs. I am taking a few, as I might need a few more in January. Any special breakfast in the Hills?

The plan for this short gateway was made on Thursday and glad that we got the rooms. Our Marriott bonvoy membership helped to get the resort rooms. Glad that we could have one family mini vacation. My husband too has taken these two weeks off accumulating all his leaves. He plans to get few personal stuffs done and relax. Movie watching and binge show watching are also on our list. The hill top had a menu of all yummy South Indian breakfasts like idli( varieties)vada, dosa( varieties), upma, uthapam, karabath, bissibele bath, kesari bath etc. Yes, the most selling one was their Maggie with eggs and veggies. I guess many young students came for trekking and they preferred that with coffee.

Yes, I did for two consecutive mornings. It was too cold with dense fog and very reduced visibility. We walked for almost two hours there before making it to the top. We rested at few spots to enjoy the nature and scenic beauty.

First of all very nice picture you have uploaded with your discussions??. Loved it. Is it you in the picture? It was interesting to read that you had gone on a mini vacation and you enjoyed there. Among nature is the best thing for us and we feel rejuvenated and refreshed when we are among nature. The metropolitan cities are getting crowded day by day and we miss natural surroundings around us. Hope you will have a great holidays ahead.

@arunima25 - No problem Arunima if you are not going to post any picture of yours on the Social Media, I fully understand your point. I will have to search for your post, where you posted your picture. Please give me a clue. As I was absent from myLot for quite a long time, I missed to check your post. It is nice to hear that you enjoyed your Houseboat trip in Kerala earlier and you had been to Varanasi and Sarnath. I had been to Allepy and we stayed overnight on the Houseboat and it was one of the most memorable trips for us. I have never been to Varanasi and Sarnath, though I wish to go there.

@dpk262006 Thank you. I don't post my photos much on social media. If I remember correctly, I had posted one with one of my posts. It was some time back. Glad that we could make a short trip. We have not been to a long vacation since the pandemic. Both girls have different schedule and their holidays don't match. We made such short trip once in June too. Then we went to Kerala during Pongal holiday and spent two days in houseboat.Even that was a good short trip. Both Husband and I went for our college reunions separately and that became a good trip for us. I went to Varanasi and Sarnath with our friends in June End.

@dpk262006 I think it was a couple if years back when I posted one picture here. I will have to dig for that. We used to visit Varanasi very frequently as my mom belongs to that place. But after my marriage, I could go only twice. This visit was after a long and Varanasi seemed so much changed for good in this current regime. Loved the trip with our old gang of friends.

Yes, I am happy too. And it was indeed a good trip. It's better to have a short getaway than to have no vacation.

@sallypup It was the same there on the hills. But we went for longer walks for two consecutive mornings to the top of the hill. It was dense fog with very reduced visibility. Even things at one arm distance were not seen. We loved the experience.

Thank you. We made a last minute plan on Thursday night. Good that we got the bookings in the resort. It was wonderful. We walked in dense fog and mist on two consecutive mornings. We walked for more than an hour on both days.

My school is closed for Christmas break. I will go back to work on 3rd January next year. So, other than my two hours of therapy sessions in the afternoon, I don't have anything else to do on work front. Husband has also taken this week off. We plan to stay at home And enjoy the rest of the month.

It was indeed breathtaking view, especially the views from the view points where we could see the deep valleys and mountains engulfed in fog. It was quite dense fog and the visibility was reduced. We definitely enjoyed the walk up the hill. Glad that we could get this getaway. With both girls having different schedule and vacation time, planning a whole family vacation is getting tough these days.
