I have been in english learning many years, but spent most of time on writing english before.About two years ago,i transferred goal to spoken english, try my best to imporve english speaking and listening. Then i found english speaking and listening is harder than writing.I need know pronounciation of every word, need adapt to others's accent, and need know some informal expression. For writing english,i just need know how to write a word, and what's the meaning of the word.Until now,I have practised spoken several years, but only made a small progress.I fell english speaking is much harder than writing. What is your opinion for this point?Do you practise spoken english, and how is your spoken english?Look forward to sharing your experience.

Yes, spoken English is harder than written English. The main reason is that many people do not pronounce well, they have an "accent" and it's hard to understand what they say. Listen to movies in English, this helps a lot to practice.

@jefferson126 Accents and local dialects are a headache for sure. The spoken American English is so different from state to state.

The case is like i speak Chinese,i am Chinese born in China. Thus speaking Chinese is easier to me.However many foreign friends told me Chinese is difficult to learn, especially spoken Chinese is quite difficult.Overall, learning a foreign language is not easy.

In my country, by default everyone speaks 3 languages. English is a first for many of us nowadays and thus it is not that hard. If you try to adapt to every other accent, then you will not progress. But with time it will be okay. Keep practicing

I think you are right we don't have to adapt to kinds of accents, because not everyone's accent is standard,i would like to know pronunciation of more words, this will help perfect my spoken english.

Yes. I think the same. I can't have that accent no matter how much I am trying.

don't be too hard on youself,as long as you can speak fluently and communicate well, accent don't matter.
