Day 156 Hebrews 3:1 Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our confession, Christ Jesus, 2 who was faithful to Him who appointed Him, as Moses also was faithful in His house. 3 For this One has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as He who built the house has more honor than the house. 4 For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God. 5 Moses, indeed, was faithful in His house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which would be spoken afterward, 6 but Christ as a Son over His house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end. 7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice, 8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, in the day of trial in the wilderness, 9 where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, and saw My works for forty years. 10 Therefore, I was angry with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart, and they have not known My ways.’ 11 So I swore in My wrath, ‘They will not enter My rest.’” 12 Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God; 13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast to the end, 15 while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” 16 For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, was it not all who came out of Egypt, led by Moses? 17 Now with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose corpses fell in the wilderness? 18 And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who did not obey? 19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Have you doubted what was right in front of you? Did you tell yourself it was an illusion, a trick of the mind, and didn’t believe what your eyes saw? The author of Hebrews was himself a Hebrew. He wrote to Christian Jews not to lose their faith through doubt, but to believe what they heard with rejoicing firmly to the end. He told them they were the house of Jesus Christ, built up in Him. Therefore, they were not to doubt as their ancestors did, but believe and partake of all the benefits of their salvation. The author reminded them that everyone who doubted in the wilderness when Moses led them out of Egypt, died in the wilderness. They did not enter into the rest God planned for them in the Promised Land. He told them their rest was found in Jesus Christ. As Christians, how often do you doubt what you see and hear in the body of Christ? What did it take for you to become a Christian because you doubted everything people told you? Did you need to SEE signs and wonders, not only hear about them? Doubt is one of Satan’s weapons used to keep you from salvation. When you employed faith against doubt, then you could believe what people told you. Then you could enter the rest God planned for you through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Thomas, one of the twelve disciples, doubted the resurrection and demanded certain signs to believe. When confronted with Jesus Christ, he believed. Hear what Jesus said to him. John 20:26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” 27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving but believing.” 28 Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” Don’t let doubt cloud your mind with unbelief. Believe what the Scriptures tell you. Believe the testimonies you hear, and praise God, rejoicing in your salvation until Jesus returns. Then you will enter His rest and be with Him for eternity. Let’s pray: Father, keep doubt and unbelief far from me. Let me praise You with rejoicing when I see and hear the testimonies about what You are doing around the world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen. Doubt can be a huge problem even for priests, and ministers of religion. I was talking to an old Bishop once, who told me that he also had his doubts from time to time. He was perhaps only being honest with me, at the time, as I had told him that sometimes I doubt too, but then my experiences with Jesus, always wash away my doubts. I told him one of my experiences, and he said to me, "You have strengthened an old man's faith again now too." Saint Paul was said to speak only Araimac, and Greek, so not being a Hebrew, perhaps he is not the author of Hebrews, which some scholars claim is written by someone unknown.

I'm glad you could strengthen his faith. No. Paul isn't the author of Hebrews. It's hard for me to believe he didn't speak Jewish when he spoke to the people in Jerusalem before he went to prison. He also gained permission from the chief priest to search for believers in Damascus before his conversion.

@just4him In Philippians, chapter 3, verses 4 to 6, Paul speaks of himself like this: "If someone else thinks they have reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for righteousness based on the law, faultless." so perhaps, he could speak Hebrew. and in Acts, chapter 21, verse 40, it says: "The commander gave permission, so Paul stood on the steps, and waved his hand to quiet the people. When there was silence, he spoke to them in the Hebrew language."
