Good evening. Back at the hospital. It's Christmas Eve, and we won't have Therapy tomorrow. George will get a break. He's starting to get discouraged, because we've been in hospital settings for so long. I can't blame him. We're hoping to get him on regular food starting next week, but we'll have to see. We'll only be here two more weeks. Sucks we'll be spending the holidays here, but it is what it is. I'm hoping in a year, we'll look back on this and it'll be a distant memory.

I know you're thankful to be with each other, even at the hospital.

Yes, I am. And, while it's depressing to listen to him talk about not wanting to live, I know deep down he does. You don't know how many times I could have last month alone.

He's alive. He's medically better. We're just working on his mental stuff.

@kaylachan - I imagine that mental stuff is the hardest. I am experiencing this situation, my husband has senile dementia, he can remember nothing.

Yeah. I think George forgot already about not wanting to live. Or, at least I hope.

Uhhh, when he "graduates" from therapy you might throw a small party for him. It might brighten things up for him a smidge. George isn't the only one who has times where he doesn't want to live. I am learning a LOT about people in constant chronic pain and the apathy from the health care professionals (you need to adjust to the pain and you don't need that much pain medication). I have finally gotten to the point of telling them that they should practice compassion, NOT SYMPATHY. I then tell them where they can find sympathy in the dictionary, "It's between sh*t and syphillis". They don't understand the depression that accompanies the change a person goes through with a major illness or with major pain. I understand what both you and George are going through, and I hope that things will brighten for you quickly. Try to take one day at a time and look for some little happy thing to brighten your minute, hour, and even your day. It's tough but that's part of what I've had to do to keep going. My thoughts and prayers are with you and George. Love, Hugs and Purrs from Toni, Petey and Freya

As a person with chronic pain, myself, I get where you're coming from. Pain is the one thing George hasn't complained about the whole time we've been here. Both in the hospital and now rehab. He's always asking if you're done. Or, he'll tell staff to 'do it later'.

When everyone is still having a cozy Christmas, you have a memorable holiday.
