I find this fruit to be intriguing. I have seen them online and on television but not in the stores. It is a carambola, more popularly known as star fruit. It is a tropical fruit from Southeast Asia. When it is sliced in a cross-section fashion it looks like a star which is where it got its name of "star fruit". It is approximately 3-6 inches in length and is a vibrant yellow. It is said to be crisp and tart in taste and is said to be a mix of apple, grape, pear, and citrus family fruit.
Have you had this before? Did you like it? How would you describe it?

I have never had it but it does look neat. I bet it is tasty. I wonder if it’s something @Allknowing has at Solitaire.

Oh, I see. Maybe it should be left alone then.

@celticeagle It looks very nice to decorate, because it looks like a star, but the taste is not interesting.

@celticeagle My younger brother bought it from another city, and the color of the carambola has also turned yellow, but it's not clear if it's fully ripe.

Fruit and vegetables are pretty bland these days. Unless they are from a home garden.

I have never seen a star fruit before in my lifetime. I would like to eat one since I need to eat fruits for my diet.

The starfruit is very good. Like any other fruit, the trick to eating it is knowing when it is ripe but not too ripe, or it's like a lot of other fruits, it's mushy. Cut and eaten at the right time, it's very good.

That is the trick. Knowing when it is ripe. So many are not good if picked too early.

Years ago I bought them for my son to take to "show and tell" at grade school. Occasionally I have bought them, do not remember much about them. They were pretty in a fruit salad. I would like to try a dragonfruit.

It's a common fruit here, as I stay in Malaysia. It's juicy, some are sweet (but not too sweet), but some are a bit soury. I can't think of any reasons not liking it, but it's never my favorite fruit, I don't know why. I do not like those overripe ones. I don't think I have bought starfruits before too. But now I think I should buy some for my children to taste, they might not have tasted it before too.
