Book two of merman side character

For book 2 in my merman serise two of my side characters have a thing for each. I love adding breadcrumbs of their little bedroom buddy behavior in this book. Neither of these side characters really wants to deal with the other. One is like sure whatever ever you can date my ex's best friend while the other is no staying away from my best friend who doesn't need another person dragging them down into the self-destructive rabbit hole. Clearly, now my side character has not once but twice body harm to one of the two main characters. These two side characters will have the moment of their book in book 3 which happens midway through book 2.
