This was book #35 of my original goal of #33. The book was called "Zane and the Hurricane" and is about a boy who is sent from New Hampshire to Louisiana to meet some long-lost family. While he is there, Hurricane Katrina hits, and the story goes about how he meets new friends and all the stuff that he and his friends go through. I saw pictures on the news of when Katrina hit, but of course I was safe here in California. While this book is fiction (as it explains at the end) it tells many of the kinds of things that happened. Near the end I cried. I definitely recommend this book to anyone who doesn't mind getting weepy over as story (at least, if you wear your heart on your sleeve like I do).

I was away from the area when Hurricane Katrina up in the north shore of New Orleans when the storm hit. What happened to the victims of the hurricane I would not wish on my worst enemies.

Even though the book was fiction, it sounded pretty awful.

Good job! Mine was set to 100 and I just went past it the other day so I'm at 101 books. I should finish the next one today so it'll be 102 for this year. I'm pretty sure this isn't a book for me since I like paranormal romance.

@xstitcher lol, why do you think I read quick reads or novellas I'm a busy mommy and can't stand to read long books that have slow progression. I also mostly read smutty books or books that have a good amount of it. I can do a murder book which I have a series I've ready waiting for the last book to come out which it MFM/ MMF relationship but they are serial killers it does have in the first book a lot of smut, the second book far less smut but there is also an SA which is a big part but also the fact she is getting over the fact the guys killed someone in front of her. Book 3 is supposed to start after she kills someone for the first time. To be far to her she had good reason for the hurting of this person and I approve. My current novella is demon Romance which follows up the author's first big book which is more like a 300-page book but her 7 princes of sins are all less than 150 pages long. I spend all of November and December reading novella.

LOL--thank you, unfortunately, not all of the books I read this year were good. Thankfully, most of them were.
