I am on holiday in Almaty in Kazakhstan and thought of exploring the city. In one of the restaurants, I observed that Horse meat was on the Menu. I tried it and found it was ok. I was of course intrigued as I hadn't heard of horse meat being served.
I explored the city and visited a famous market called Greens Market. It was very big and an entire line of shops selling horse meat It is the priciest meat available in Almaty and other meats like beef, lamb, and chicken are cheaper. People here love horse meat.

I have not tried eating horse meat but I am willing to try it to learn the difference from cow meat.

Jeffrey Steingarten once made french fries by frying the potatoes in horse fat, he said it is the best possible thing to fry potatoes in, see if you can get the opportunity to try some.
We had zebra once and it tasted like grass, put us both off off equestrian meat. Kazakhstan looks great and I hope you enjoy your holiday there!
