A Boring Track

You win some, you lose some. Isn't that just the way life goes? But the fact that you lose some doesn't stop the process of keeping going and continuing to try, even if the result is not exactly what you were aiming for.
Take this track, a cover I did of that great Phil Collins song, "In the Air Tonight," which I think helped to put Miami Vice on the map in that great driving scene when they played this song.
But my version is quite boring. It misses that awesome drum track that kicks in halfway through and the "uptempo" of the song.
It was still fun to do in any event, and whether or not a cover or track ever works, the main thing is the fun and the experience, and the learning from each time you put one together. Again, whether or not it really works out.
And of course, they are fun to share in any event regardless.

Actually, I liked it even without the drums. I don't listen to oldies much but recognized it when your started. I might listen again and check out more.

@porwest possibly, but if we could mimic them exactly they might be out of work. ![](/Content/images/emotes/cry.gif)

@MarshaMusselman And I always do try to put my own twist on things, so you are right about that. I'll check out your other comment. I think I did actually miss it somehow.

Nice rendition Jim.
Phil wrote this song expressing these feelings as he was going through a divorce from his first wife. Is everything ok with your marriage?
Those vocals need a bit of work, but I really enjoyed it a lot ![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

@porwest Ha, ha! Boy, musicians are sooooo sensitive. (just kidding) Chickens aside, I wasn't "hen pecking," wish I had some of that musical talent of yours. ![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)

@dgobucks226 No worries. I have never pretended to be a rock star. I just have fun with it. lol. My main interest is in playing the guitar and bass and writing the drum sequences. It just so happens most songs have lyrics and I have to at least TRY to sing them. lol

Nothing wrong with my marriage that I am aware of. lol. I am not looking for any surprises either. As for the vocals, I am not sure what I could do other than hire someone else to do them.
Otherwise you get what you get. A strangled chicken. What of it? lol
