I never knew what phishing is until it happened to me

A public awareness post for everyone using e- wallets. It happened yesterday morning. The e wallet app I was using was having problems after the developer updated the app. I have several funds on that wallet mostly my earnings through freelance online works . The app is crashing everytime I open it. I dont have problems with logging in because I tried logging in using another device and it worked. My phone as well can download and install other apps and can use the apps but not with the e wallet app I was so eager to fix the app myself that I entertained a message from a stranger saying he can help fix it. He gave me a link that looked like the website of the e wallet app , my first thought this must be okay so I followed the steps on the screen until I read please provide PIN , I entered my pin so that I can use the app already but to my surprise the whole screen froze and I cant click anything . He told me to refresh my phone so that the system can recognize the troubleshooting steps but right after I checked on my other app that is linked on my e wallet app I saw it was already 0 balance I immediately messaged him and told him he was a scam and then no word from him and he blocked me . Moral lesson: Never ever trust a stranger in person or in social media. Always check the websites you visit. And never ever give out your PIN, USERNAME and other info . I was sad and devastated but its a big lesson to me now.
