Good morning, friends.
Today I woke up with a song in French in my head that I had learned when I was 3 years old. At that age my parents took me to a kindergarten run by a French lady. She taught us children songs in French.
I don´t think I was there over 3 or 4 months as my father has a scholarship in the US and my mother went with him. We stayed here with my grandmother and my aunt but scgool was not a necessity at that age.
I hadn´t remembered that song for over75 years. Yet it was in some hidden part of my brain. And today I remembered and with it a lot of things that happened to me at that time.
Does that happen to you once in a while? It also happens to me when I´m taking a shower. I have always been a "shower singer".

I'm glad you can remember when you were 3 years old. I also sometimes remember childhood memories and songs that I had forgotten for many years.

I have always had a very good memory. And music triggers a lot of memory for me.

@marguicha That's nice. I've had memory problems and sometimes even forgot my past completely.

@LadyDuck Imagine a song in French that I learnt when I was 3. And it wasn´t "frere Jacques" or the other ones that you listen to once in a while.

@marguicha I agree, I cannot even remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but those songs pop up in our brain.

The brain is such a magnificent place and can do so much. I woke up with a song in my head a few days ago. Sort of frustrating cause I couldn't recall the name.

@celticeagle Once I finally found all of a very sad poem that my grandma recited to us when we were very small.

@marguicha Isn't that amazing? I guess the part of the brain that deals with poetry wasn't affected.

Was the song Frere Jacques? Sometimes when least expected I do have certain songs suddenly pop into my head.

No. I sing Frere Jacques often in the shower. It was "Il etait une petit bergere".

It's amazing how a memory will pop into your head...things that have not been thought about for decades.
