Driftwood winds up on a beach in Maryland

I can never figure out what goes through the minds of the Maryland State Park Officials when they decided not to remove a piece of timber that was 14.5 foot long that wound up on a beach in Betlin Maryland last month decided to only to fit it with a tag and allow the piece of wood that appears to be from a wrecked ship from the mid to late 1800s.
The Maryland State Park officials contacted the officials with the Maryland Historic Trust to determine what to do with the piece of wood from the sunken ship.
The officials of the Maryland Historic Trust decided not to pick up the piece of wood and have it examined by their officials.
My only hope is that no one gets hurt having to touch the driftwood that could have been part of a sunken ship that would up in the Atlantic Ocean around the mid to late 1800s.

I am in agreement with you since at least in California the dummy bomb was taken to the Air Force station to be taken care of.

Seems like they would have had a great interest in wood from a ship that old.. Go figure.

Surprising no one has any interest in something that is part of history,

That is what I am thinking that a piece of history should be examined and not thrown back into the ocean,

I am in agreement with you that someone will pick up the driftwood and keep it as a souvenir.

I'm surprised that the Historic Trust was not interested in the piece of wood.

I am amazed as well that the Historic Trust did not take the wooden piece with them.

Maybe some gopher will take it home, and give it a place as a garden border in their garden, which would be better than leaving it on the beach.

Even if they decide to leave the broken wood there, it doesn't seem to affect or block anyone.
