Here is the finished drawing of the horse and lady.

I finished the drawing of the horse and lady for the London Art Course today. First thing I did was adjust the lady's head and face, and she definitely looks much better now. Then I started to darken the shadows on the horse. I used a 2B pencil for the lighter areas and then I used a 6B pencil for the darker areas at the bottom of the horse and the darkest shadow on the lady. Then I began to darken the areas around the muzzle. I darkened the areas on the face, and I adjusted the eye and made it darker. Then I put more shadow in his mane. Then I put some folds in the girls dress, especially on the sleeve, and added more shading to the dress too. I used a rubber to add highlights to her face and hair. I thought of a story for the picture. The girl is wearing a wedding dress, so maybe she's getting her horse ready to take her to the wedding. Maybe she will ride him or maybe he will pull her carriage. Maybe she is going to go and get his saddle, or maybe she is going to ride him bareback. I propped the picture up on my pillow on my bed and then stepped back and looked at it from a distance. I then adjusted anything that I thought needed it, like the edge of the back of the horse was too light and you could hardly see it from afar, so I darkened that. Then I took a picture of the horse, and as I was doing this I noticed one or two other things that needed adjusting, so I did that. When I thought everything was as good as I thought I was going to get it, I called it finished and took the final photograph that you see here. I won't be sending it off to the London Art College yet because I've some other drawings to do for this set of course work first. When I'd finished my drawing I checked the course to see what other drawings we can choose from to do. There are some tonal sketches you could do. Or you could choose from one of the following:- 1) A junk shop interior 2) The Chess Player or 3) A girl reading. So I looked on the copyright free photos site on the internet and found examples of all 3. But I also found a picture of a dog that looks like he's playing chess, so I'm tempted to draw that and send it in with a note saying "You said draw a picture of a chess player. You didn't say he had to be human!" Anyway, I hope you have had a lovely day. Have a great night.
