Chad McIntyre who is a truckdriver who has his cat Tyler with him while he is traveling around the nation had the bad luck of cleaning up the cat litter at a truck stop in Fernley Nevada on the end of November. Chad's wife Brandy used social media in an attempt to locate their pet when someone on Facebook reported seeing the cat an animal shelter 670 miles away which is Rock Springs Wyoming where a truck found the cat at a truck stop in Wyoming. Rock Springs Animal Control supervisor Lydia Gomez was able to identify Tyler through a microchip on him to inform Chad and his wife the good news. Lydia arranged to take Tyler back from Wyoming to his home in Decatur Illinois via an independent transport coordinator Joan Nickum to drive hours to Decatur Illinois on New Year's Eve. Chad has learned his lesson that his cat will need to stay home from now on to avoid his cat running away from home while he is on the road. Good thing that the cat is home safe and sound with his owners. Link is upi.com/5731704751355 via @upi

I wonder how people recognize cats. It could be a different cat that looks like the lost one.

That is a good question since there is a cat inside of my home who looks like my deceased cat Relish who passed away a few years ago.

I am glad Tyler made it home. I saw a cat at a rest stop one time. I assumed it had been abandoned. I left a message for animal control.

I became (short-term) friends with a cat at a Rest Area in Oregon (or was it Northern California?) a couple of years ago. I already had Kitty waiting for me at home. I tried to ask the cat how he or she had wound up at a Rest Area, but the cat was not able to tell me. I hope someone adopted him or her.

I also hope that the cat that you were short term friends with is also found a home.

Decatur, IL. is only about 45 minutes from where I live. I think some truckers take a pet to have another breathing being in the truck, as well as the emotional support. But a person has to be careful. The pet can get loose in a millisecond.

Here, in Australia, he would have likely been fined for having an unrestrained animal in his truck. It is dangerous to do this, as in an accident the cat could fly around inside the truck and cause a lot of trouble, as well as getting injured itself. It is good the cat is staying home now.

That is a good law your nation has since the safety of the cat or human is important.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, it is a good law, but some people still flaunt it, and drive their car even with their dog, on their lap. I have seen them myself. Very stupid. A big fine, if caught.

I understand why he wanted to have a travel companion. I would be devastated to have kitty get gone like that. Thankful they were reunited.

Amazing they were able to find the cat, but of course the chip helped. Boy, that cat traveled a long way to Wyoming. Glad he is now safely at home.
