Well my cold weather kit is coming all together. I just sent friend and Jax on their way, but he helped me get the indoor propane heater together...although this is not something that I would use for a prolonged period, but it is marked safe for indoor use. I also have my thermos, small stove and a lantern. The snow blower I am going to work on getting assembled. I it is finally out of the box. It is very windy here, but the real cold weather is yet to come. Are you prepared for this cold, in case of a power outage?

In winter I have 2 gas heaters that I have on as little as possible during the day. At night I use electricity in my bedroom with a thermostat to turn it on only at certain hours.

I would think with those kinds of temps you would not be safe to stay there for any length of time. That would get dangerous within minutes.

@snowy22315 My husband thinks it would take a couple days before the water pipes would freeze. I'm not so sure, but certainly we'd be fine if the power was off for a few hours.

@paigea I wouldn't chance it personally. With the temp that low, the inside temp would drop awfully fast. You don't have a generator? If I lived somewhere like that, I would think that would be a priority.

It sounds like you've made good progress on your cold weather kit with the indoor propane heater, thermos, stove, and lantern.

I wonder if our cold weather is going to blow over there? I am thinking some of ours maybe came from China or Korea..it was very cold there a few weeks ago.

@snowy22315 Our cold weather is blowing from the Arctic Sea. Russia, Norway, Finland and Sweden are now hit by the cold. According to the weather forecast the southern part of Switzerland, Italy and France will not get too much cold and Spain will remain mild.

@LadyDuck I hope it stays that way for you...unless you want it to be colder.

Yes, as I mentioned before we have a standby generator that goes on automatically when the power goes out. Hubs keeps an electric heater running in "his room" because he's always cold. Have a good day and keep warm.

It’s 5 degrees right now, and whatever snow comes today I hope is light enough to not knock out the power. I have a flashlight, tons of candles, warm blankets, but if I am left in the dark I’ll most likely go to my dad’s unless the roads are impassable. He has a fireplace so at least I know it will be warm there.

They keep changing their mind about snow here, the latest is that it is on for today and tomorrow into Tuesday, but not likely much of an accumulation.

Thank you, it is supposed to get really cold. I mean not frigid, but down into the teens at night.
