Another visit from a quenda

In my last post, I mentioned we’d brought my sister back with us as houses in her area were being evacuated because of a huge bush fire. Yesterday, we took her back to her home as the area was safe again. However, there are even bigger fires to the west.
It was nice to have her company for a few days. We tackled a big jigsaw and did some cryptic crosswords.
On the way home we called in on Vince’s brother and shared a pizza for dinner before coming home. A little quenda was hopping around our feet looking for crumbs. At one point, it sat up looking for all the world like a funny little meerkat.
The photo Vince took with his photo wasn’t very good so I’ve used the better one which gives a better view of it. This photo is better than the one I put up a week or two ago. Later, a smaller quenda came around but it only had a bit of a stump for a tail. I guess it had lost its tail in some accident.

I am glad the area where your sister lives is safe again, that is a big relief for all of you.
Those cute little animals are not at all scared by humans. This is a very good photo. May be the small quenda lost part of his tail because of a cat.

It must be pretty scary to have to evacuate due to fires. I'm sure it was nice having your sister visit but happy to hear that she was able to return home.
That little quenda is a little critter I've never seen before.

@JudyEv I've seen such devastation here in the US when those fires are blazing. People having to evacuate is one thing but having to worry about animals, livestock etc would be a nightmare.

@Marilynda1225 Sometimes the fires are in areas where there are dozens of smallholdings and virtually every one has at least a few animals. But when there is such an emergency, the public really come to the party providing transport for animals, showing up with food, etc. It restores your faith in human nature.

It mostly looks like a big rat to me. I am pleased to know another "q" word for those times when you need one, though.

Looks like your basic rat to me. I don't think I'd enjoy seeing one near where I was eating.

View it as a cute little creature. It has nothing in common with a rat bar a slight resemblance.

It looks like mice. I'm glad your sister's home is safe again in the midst of all the wildfires. I'm glad you enjoyed the jigsaw, crosswords and even the pizza together. Nice photo of a quenda.

Yes, it does but it's just a sweet little native animal.

They are cute. They might look a bit like a rat but I never see that in them. This one was very cute.

It was nice having her stay for a day or two. Although we live closer than we once did, she is still over an hour away.
